I was referring to a post in this thread where someone suggested just replacing the bearings instead of the entire thing. There is a link included on how to do it.

Thank you, what was left of the belt looked fine, I sure hope the HB is okay, I don't need to add anything else to my "to do" list! Thank you for letting me know.

    All stock, baby!
OP, is your alternator original? If so, I’m going to recommend you replace it with a quality rebuild while you are in there. My alternator bearings froze up last November a few weeks after I had replaced the idler and tensioner pulleys/bearings. My Taco had 112K miles on it and I had done my best to inspect the alternator and water pump bearings at the time. I’m going back in to replace the water pump, too.

As a note, I replaced the bearing in the tensioner pulley rather than the entire assembly; it was really quite easy to pound out the old bearing and press in the new one.

This just made me realize I'm going to have to do this as well. Everything on my truck is original so I'm going to have to do a massive overhaul on most of those. At least there is aftermarket OEM parts for those except for the tensioner.

I just opened up a rabbit hole in searching through all these threads to decide what route I want to take, lol. Ended up ordering from Amazon, was cheaper than RockAuto and I get it delivered tomorrow. I have an OEM belt but I don't want to risk shredding it if something else is wrong so I bought a cheap belt and once I confirm everything is good, I'll swap my new OEM belt and keep the cheapie in the truck. My tensioner pulley actually seemed good (I should have included it in my video) so I'm leaving that for now. Thought you guys would get a laugh at my Amazon suggested book, LOL!

I would have purchased OEM, but I could not find 16604-0P011 at any of the Toyota dealers I order from!

Could be that it may have been superseded by another model number. Have you checked to see if you can find another number that fits?

If you type that part# in Amazon, it shows it available.
It says it is a genuine OEM Toyota part too. (If you believe it).
Amazon says it’s a water pump pulley?

I did check and all the other part numbers superseded were also listed as unavailable. I searched for the same pulley for a 2016 Gates on Rock Auto and it listed the same part number. I ended up cancelling the Amazon order and I ordered the pulley for a 2016, part number 16604-31030. Website says it will not fit my '06, but I guess I'll find out. I'll update here when my order comes in. 25% off, I ordered $500 worth of stuff and have another $500 in my cart right now in FJ40 parts. I figured I should buy just about whatever I can use that is left in stock. Sale is good until 3/23 with free shipping.

If it isn't sold by a dealer, I don't believe it is a genuine OEM.

I was able to find it in toyotapartsdeal.

    Here is the link.

    https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/oem/toyota~pulley~sub~assy~idl~16604-31030.html

If that doesn't work for you then you can use this site which is an international site where you can order Toyota parts.

    https://www.amayama.com/en/catalogs.../engine-fuel-system-and-tools-1/water-pump-20

Scroll down till you see the 16604 pulleys. There are two models numbers that are available that should work for your truck.

Another possibility is one or more pulleys may be out of alignment, causing the grooves to slowly eat away at the passing belt. If you don't have or don't know someone with an alignment checker like the Dayco 93874 (it's a little over $100 new - sometimes they pop up on FleaBay as well), you can likely find a shop that has such a tool - though the diag cost will likely be what it would cost you to buy the tool and do it yourself, which is why I ended up buying mine. It was the perfect excuse to my wife for buying it - I said 'look, now I can check all the cars for the cost of just checking one car' (even though to date I've only actually checked one car...).
