If the hardware hasn't changed between generations, which it probably hasn't. Then the M12 bed bolts will have a max diameter of 12mm (0.4724") the minimum will depend on the mfg tolerance. I saw another thread where they measured to be 11.88mm with calipers (0.4677").

That being said 15/32" hole on the d-rings will be 0.4687" so in some cases the bolt may work without any enlarging, in some cases it wont. Finding a d-ring with an M12 mounting hole would be ideal; but, not nearly as common as standard sizes. The only concern I have with Amazon no-name d-rings is their "rating" is nothing more than words on a website that can disappear tomorrow. It's probably fine, just not sure I'd trust them for anything of high value like a motorcycle etc.

I just ordered some D-rings. What is the torque spec for the 12mm bed bolts when I put it back together?

    TIA

Has anyone come up with the "perfect" bushing to allow the tie-down to spin after the bolt has been tightened down? I recall one person said he had something, but it was a spare part from a Mercedes engine, or something like that. I'm looking for something that has a part number that anyone would be able to purchase from Amazon or whoever.

By the way, at 8 years and 11 months (see bottom of page 13), all of my tie-downs are still in place, with the original no-rattle zip-tie modifications in place. A litle surface rust, as I don'thave a garage.

Is there any reason I can't just move the that are by the tail gate to the bolts near the cab? I don't really need them by my tailgate b/c I have bed stiffeners that have tons of areas that can be used as a tie down on them.

    Just did the Dodge/Mercedes rings.
Got them from local Dodge dealer in CA, $10 a ring.
    Super solid.
    Thanks for the idea!

They are 10 for $22.99 now. Fack it free returns plus I doubt I'll break them. Worth the try.

I’d say the bolts are a much different size unless you plan on drilling?

Got the ones from Amazon. Like $2.5 each. I will keep them and use them on my bed project.
They fit but not fit. FYI

You have to grind the rings on the bolt, take the washer off, and put the washer under the D ring.

Great thread, I took out the bed bolts, PB Blast, couple of wacks with a ball-peen to the face of the bolt and a breaker bar no issues. I used a bastard file (Yup, File Sr was never part of the family...heartbreaking) to file down the rings on the bolt to release the washer, I have a Dremel but for some reason I didn’t want to ground down a dremel head. Very easy with the bastard!

I’m going to start this mod after finding this thread. A couple questions

I would like the d ring to spin like the factory ones near the tailgate. Are there any options to make this work?

If I don’t need them to spin are the sprinter d rings considered best choice? I found them but they want $20 for shipping so comes out to same price as oem toyota

If you use Dodge part number 05170492AA that is the latest one for the Sprinter D-rings. I was able to find a few websites selling them for $6ish and free shipping for Labor Day.

Can you share a link to these? Did you have to drill them out? If not I want the same ones. Thanks.
