Also any more info on how to wire the R15 harness...did you use all the pins?

I need one of those harnesses to make the bluetooth mic function. (still looking for a bluetooth mic)

What year is your truck and what system did it originally have? I wired up R15 according to the write up from the first post on this thread.

The diagram is color coded. Just take the wire from the listed pin location and run it to the listed pin location on the new harness.
In the example below, the wire in harness R3, pin location #3 needs to be moved to harness R15, pin location #17. R3, pin #18 goes to R15, pin #27.
If a box is white in the diagram, that wire either doesn't exist in your truck or the new system.
I got my R15 wiring harness from here: http://www.toyotapartszone.com/oem/90980-12555.html
I can't help you with mic situation. If you're really set on getting it I'd try to get an OEM mic...aftermarket might not wire up the same. Hope this helps.

got it- thanks...one more questions tho,

so for the R15 white boxes in the above diagram...

Pins 1-2 and 4-6....are those needed to run the bluetooth mic. Is it necessary to run those wires to have everything work with the stereo and BT mic.... im assuming yes. My truck did not come with those wires.

Pins 1 and 2 seems self explanatory. But the 4,5, and 6 - where did you guys connect those to (is that off the mic plug itself)?

    Sorry, forgot to ask-

Were you able to remove the R3 wires from the R3 harness with the pins connecters still atttached and just pop them into the R15 harness?

Or did you have to cut wires and splice to R15 harness

    Hey there
i am in the process of this mod and i need to find the 90980-12916 CONNECTOR E16
    preferably with wiring and plugs

anyone have a source or other part place to find this cable?

    UPDATED
I found this cable which should be easy to splice into
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Axxess-AX-T...2942?pt=US_Radio_Antennas&hash=item2c6f92f4de
    and not very expensive-

now onto the rest of the plugs!
anyone have a good lead on where to get the female terminal pins for these oem connectors?

For the Bluetooth mic I used part # Pt546-74120-mc
The 8 pin connector I took apart keeping the pins attached and put them in the r15 connector.

I then used the diagram on this page to move the wires from the 8 pin in the bottom left to r15 / 28 pin connector that is in the top right of that page.

i think there should be a separate write up for 2012 non-jbl to 2012 jbl as i am finding a lot of differences in the connectors- i am also looking for a plug n playsolution. i so far ordered the antenna converter, usb plug, gps antenna, metra kit 70-1761 and 71-8113 and the # Pt546-74120-mc - only 1 more plug to go -a 10 terminal plug (on the back of the 2012) that i need to find as a male plug
    - any leads?

So for anyone attempting this with a 2012- this harness PT546-00120-CH from a scion should convert the 20 terminal plug and the 8 terminal plug directly to the 28 terminal (R15) and it even appears to be wired exactly the same- but i'll confirm this after i receive it-

I noticed that as well...this looks like this may be the solution to re-wiring the 20 pin harness to get the 28 pin to work.

Where did you order yours from?

looks like I will need one of those and a mic kit with above part number and have full functioning bluetooth phone calls.....

I also found someone posted this on another forum as possible parts that may convert our pre 2013 harnesses:

Conversion Cable : Antenna - Toyota Part No. PT546-00120-AD
    Conversion Cable : 20pin + 8pin to 28pin - Toyota Part No. PT546-00120-CH 1
Conversion Cable : USB - Toyota Part No. PT546-00120-US

Instead of splicing into the wire you might just be able combine it with this mod:

So I ordered the above harness and it works perfect! I didn't have to rewrite anything! I also ordered the mic from the above post and its plug and play into the harness!!! So I now have Bluetooth calling all plug and play!

So pre 2013 tacomas need the adapted above and the mic from the above post. I Ordered both online at Toyota parts sales and shipped came out to around 85 bucks!!!!
