You can use a add a fuse, which fuse location you use will depend on when you want to have power, either always hot or key on hot

I haven’t done it on a 3rd gen, but in past trucks I added a fuse block under the hood and ran 4-6 wires into the truck at the same time, then used them as need. Right now I have a 8 gauge running to the back for a ARB fridge and USB, another wire for a couple of USB and wires for a CB & HAM I like it because they are always hot

I think that is personal preference. I like always hot because then I can charge stuff while out of the truck and if nothing is hooked up, then no power drain

I wired a CB speaker and a usb plug to the sunroof fuse under the dash using an add a fuse, I wanted to ask if you guys thought the cb speaker would drain the battery since it does not have an off switch... it isn't producing sound when off as the cb is only when accessory power is keyed on. I do not have a sunroof so i figured why not use this fuse but now Im wondering why it has power even when the doors are locked and the truck is off.. any help or recommendations would be appreciated.

[this post was pretty before the links were expanded...sorry if tough to read]
not sure this will help OP but somewhat related to last couple of posts...

i have been playing around with 12v power outlets and usb ports to get around entune/nav limitations with various devices. (phone/GPS/USB stick etc)

i got one similar to what bombdotcom posted but it has a voltage readout (a nice battery/charging voltage readout when usb not used but readout is useless when you plug something into the usb port). This of course is just for charging purposes.
here are a couple of examples:
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/2Pack-Car-Charger-5V-3-1A-Quick-Charge-Dual-USB-Port-Lighter-Adapter-Voltage/273338877925?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&var=572699656683&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
    https://www.ebay.com/itm/3-Way-Cigarette-Lighter-Socket-Splitter-12V-24V-DC-Power-Car-Adapter-USB-Port/332541846211?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

i am also tempted to get a splitter/hub for the real USB port. I read in tips sticky that Entune will see multiple USB sources. I have not confirmed it yet. (btw taco only has USB 2.0)
here are a couple that look interesting:

Sorry didn’t tell you guys that the cb speaker isn’t a usb powered speaker. It is meant for hardwiring and this has an internal power cable that only have a power and ground lead. I was saying I taped both the speaker and a USB port that I hardly use into the add a fuse under the dash. The USB port I rarely use is for any back passengers if I ever have someone who needs a port.

I added one of those Blue Sea outlets to my lower dash panel when I had it apart to add seat heaters. I tapped into the wires for the 12 volt outlet which I left in place.
