A picture of our gate FOB:

Here's where the FOB was previously located:

Our sliding gate opener made by ALEKO, but the remote/FOB is the universal type:

    Here's the FOB disassembly:

Pull down the overhead console, but always disconnect the negative battery terminal first before removing any electrical connectors:

Back of the overhead console with the new switch panel in place (all three switches relocated), with the garage/gate button on the left. Note, the red and green trigger wires for the FOB:

Soldered and heat shrunk these two wires to the circuit board:

Installed a new battery in the FOB, added some cloth tape keeping the LED light exposed, remove the rubber plug located down in the vent, stuffed and zip-tied the FOB into the hole with a window for the RED light, added the rubber plug as "backing":

Final result: Gate works 10x better compared to the Homelink Universal Transmitter, and the look and illumination are OEM style! :hattip:

NICE! Bonus points if you get a 12V-->3V stepdown and hardwire it into power on the truck. NO more battery.

 I'll know what to do when the battery dies... :D Side note, is there constant power up there?

Thank you! If I'm reading this correctly, 8 is constant power and 12 is ground. The link is for an inline harness I could modify to provide power to the FOB, instead of relying on a battery. Chances are I'll pass because the battery in the FOB seems to last forever. These ideas are good to know though!

The thing about my gate FOBs is that the other button is a duplicate. I can see adding different programmable FOBs with separate frequencies, along with those dual CH4×4 switches, to add more triggers/switches on the cheap. Something like these remotes connected to a couple of those dual switches. They have programmable momentary or latching settings. I can think of 5 or 6 additional switches I might need in the near future. :D

Yeah. There might be others that have a few gates to get through at home and at work...

Remove the wires you don't require.

    o_O :sorry: I didn't pass electrical diagram interpretation 101.

I see the sunroof motor plug, but are you suggesting I draw fused or IGN power from the mirror? I already have a Dongar there for the Dashcam, and it looks like the harness is tucked up in the headliner. Inquiring minds want to know... :spy:

You inquired on fused battery power at the overhead.
The Dongar has a USB port for the dash cam. The additional harness would go centipede type to it.
It's just another option for fuse battery source...
Other's might not have a dash cam or the Dongar "need".
Most do not have the sliding roof either...but the sliding roof circuit fuse and wire is present in the sail panel connector(IN1) on the Driver's side. All that's needed to run fused battery power is a wire and a 090/2.3II terminal at IN1 slot 9. Sliding Roof fuse (20a) should be exchanged for a lower amp one.

I figured that's what you were getting at.

I appreciate all the tips! I'll eventually find a home for all my switches somewhere. :notsure:
