Alright i'v read the threads, got mixed reviews so i want some opinions.
I read the towing bible and installed a tranny cooler as well as brake controller in my 01 extracab 4x4,
i Pull a 16x7 foot tandem axle enclosed trailer weighing in at 2490 pounds which isnt to bad but i Have a 1000 pound seamless eavestrough machine in there with a coil of steel on it that weighs 541 pounds.
So im already at 4000 pounds with out ladders and tools and what not so id say right around 4500 pounds loaded.

I have some work to do about 2 hours away and im wondering if its safe to pull the trailer that far ? its pretty flat the whole way.

the truck has a 6" lift as well as 265/75 16's
    here is the outfit

I have done all the hi-pro mods for a life time, since I got this truck at a great price, I will be happy with showroom new.
well you know you have a load behind you, just be careful.
I pulled tag-a-longs for years, and the most stress is when you take off and stop. be mindful of whats going on, and take it easy.
with it being summer make sure your tires are in good shape and proper inflation, make sure the truck is in tip top shape.

one thing everyone should know, and I was told this by a Dexter Eng. is that trailer axles are rated at load cap. at 55 miles per hour.

so for every 10 miles per hour faster you LOSE 10% cap.
now for every 10 miles per hour slower you GAIN 10% cap.

Well i made the drive a few issues though. The way there was fine.
The way back it was extremly windy and we were having 80 km/hr winds . I blew a tire on the trailer and it went all squirrley on me.Once i got that all straightened out i was on my way and the fan caught the schroud and sorta gobbled it up. I ended up cutting it off. Soooo should i put the money i was going to use on a schroud into an electric fan or fans?
