For those using the Xenon Depot H11 kit (35W) with the Philips 4300k bulbs. Did you all get it with or without the CanBus?

I picked up a "generic" slim digital ballast direct plug-n-play HID kit from @csjumper2003 and have zero issues. 35W, ~6000K, no harness required. They are about 18 months old and have been in use for the appropriate amount of ~30,000 miles. Bright, clean, super easy to install, and about $100 if memory serves.

This thread couldn’t have come at a better time. I have read over 100 pages pertaining to this upgrade in the last week.

Those with the Xeondepot upgrade (Phillips bulb), was it plug and play? Did you buy extra bulbs? In theory they’re LED but I’d hate to be stranded. I’m in Alaska, so the issue has been shitty OEM lights aren’t doing it, forcing the upgrade.

I have a 2017 Tundra as well that the wife drives, so I will be upgrading hers as well once I deem the upgrade worthy.

Appreciate the feedback thus far gentleman, as you made my choice a little less difficult.

I got the xenondepot hids and love them. Keep your original bulbs in the truck in case of emergency?

Another good experience with Xenon depot kits. I have the HID kit for main headlights and LED kit for fogs, no issues so far. Hopefully the cold New England winters don't cause an issue.

Just gonna throw this out there because of all the Xenon Depot kit recommendations.

I am one of the people with a morimoto kit that has noticeable bounce. Had it for a year and it doesn't bother me for the most part but after reading enough people rave about the Xenon Depot kit no bounce I considered swapping to it...until I read this post. I think it's pretty much been confirmed that it's the headlight housings and not the bulbs or kits considering there have been reports of bounce and no bounce with almost every kit.

Hyluxtek haven't skipped a beat. Have heard of several others that have just been using a 20 amp fuse to replace the 15 amp in lieu of a harness with no issues at all, for added ease of installation and cost.

Maybe the XenonDepot bulbs are different than the Philips 43k ones? I have only tried the morimoto and XD Philips bulbs.
I think it basically boils down to three things:

    1. Holy fuck levels of "bounce" due to movement from a thinner gasket. Replace it with a thicker tighter one and most, but not all goes away.

    2. Bounce but only in the hot spot of the beam when hitting medium bumps on the road. I think this is just inherent to the bulbs, somebody else mentioned the filament vibrating which makes sense.

    3. Some people notice it and some don't, of those that do some are bothered by it and some not.

Took the headlights apart, put in the new projectors, and resealed them. Complete pain in the ass, but worth it.

worth it why exactly? i know it's a pita and I've done my share of plastic welding, but for this mod I'm curious if you just like the aesthetics or if there's a functional component to know about. cus my protectors are right on, just minus a halo.

Very worth it, first and foremost to me is so you can swap to a legit d2s projector. Using a rebased h11 HID bulb does work well enough for those wanting more light output, but you just can't beat an OEM d2s bulb and projector, color wise or output.

I'm aware of that but with the round bulb & hid ballast my output is amazing at 35w/4300K and i have no complaints... aim & even the squirrel spotters are hardly noticeable. so is it just the halo?

I'm not sure. I personally like the mpre OEM look without a halo usually. I think im just too anal and like all OEM+ type upgrades lol.

BTW I used morimoto h11 in my wife's car and it was a huge upgrade from the halogens.

i do as well usually. really like the straight black housings on the Pro and don't want to make it too different from that. halos are kinda cool but not sure it totally fits in here. probably nbd either way. i know many talk a lot of smack about this lens v that lens for various bulbs but for good hid bulb/ballast combos these are good and rightly functional. the cutoff line on the rx350 lenses is basically the same as mine, just with a little bit of the spotters peaking up, but not much and your can't notice it unless you compare it on a wall.
