Hey Jake, what is the socket load out for the kit you're putting together?

I know you're gonna maybe do a full list on the expo thread eventually, but I'm thinking about getting some of those strips with the order you're putting together. Just thought you probably already have a good idea of what's needed and what isn't. Thanks!

Better to ask what I have not done.
I assume you mean how many i used in my kit?

I used one black 1/2 for my impact sockets

Red is metric black is SAE.

2 metric 3/8 strips. One short socket one deep sockets

2 SAE 3/8 strips. One deep one standard

And probably 2-4 of the 1/4

Another one or two possibly for miscellaneous sockets i have

If you had a specialy set like torqs or ones for your front diff plug that would be another one but i just made spots for these in the case as they will hardly ever be used.

So i probably have 9 or 10 in MY kit. I think its more then enough for any one else as this was meant to be a mobile kit that had everything i might need for anything i work on. Jeeps, toyotas, fords, tractors.... all that.

    Oh and

    IMG_1729.jpg

There is 5 in there so far and its looking good. 1/4 is all i have left.

I did notice that a few of the sockets them selfs was to large of an opening for these to fit, its the socket its self because i can try it on other spots with the same results and then the next socket works just fine.

That's exactly what I was looking for, Jake.

I'm trying to get a feel for what I need to carry in the truck. I don't want to keep moving tools from my toolbox to the truck all the time, and I don't want to take every tool under the sun.

It's tough trying to get just the right balance between the right tools and spares and just dead weight.

    Thanks again.

Stick with metric, if you really want to trim weight you can cut to only the metrics on the truck, torqs are not a terrible thing to carry in my opinion because no one does and our trucks and a lot of jeeps have torqs bolts.

The allen sockets for diff and tranny fluid is also a smart thing to have but there is only 2-3 sockets you need for the whole truck.

Large sockets for rear diff fluid would be nice to have, spindle sockets for front shafts and if you have light racing uppers.

Chisels and pics are something @thefatkid mentioned and now that i think of it, use a lot.

Snap ring plyers are somwthing i need for take down of my front axle and dont remember if they were needed for you but are nice to have and normaly only means one plyer for both directions.

Swivel heads for your wrenches and extentions of varing sizes.

I can not tell you how much i use my ratcheting wrenches for everything. I almost use them more then my sockets. You can cut them out like i did or just get a wrench roll for atlas 46 and put them in there. I have both and really like both, and the atlas is very duarable and well made with awesome parts.

Mmmm a good cordless impact like my dewalts are awesome to have. Both the 1/4 and the half get abused.

Same note a drill might not be stupid to have either,

    Breaker bar..

You're An engineer so you either care about torque spec or you dont. I dont but still carry one for bearings.

Thats all i can think of and im at my train stop.. :D
