    What’s up Taco Peeps!!!
Just got finished my system upgrade and couldn’t be any happier with how it turned out and what a difference in the sound!!!! I went with the PAC Amp Pro AP4-TY12 amp replacement interface! Installed my JL Audio 500 amp, Pioneer 8” sub that fits nicely in the compartment behind left rear seat!
My options were limited because of the size of the amp. I had to mount it where the factory “sub” was because it just wouldn’t fit anywhere else! Therefore I was limited to where I could put the sub!! My 10” JL Audio subs wouldn’t fit either so I found a reasonable solution with the Pioneer 8” sub! Door speakers were previously installed with 6x9 Kickers in the front doors and 6.5 Alpines in the rear! Here’s the only catch in case anyone is wondering, the factory amp must be retained so I mounted it next to the JL and spliced into factory harness and ran speaker wires directly to amp, as much as I hated to do it but there’s no other simple way??? I just didn’t want to run all new speaker wires to each door!! The new sub required running a direct connection to the amp. I just wish I took some pictures to show everyone but I was in work mode and wanted to get done asap!!! Also I wasn’t able to connect the front dash tweeters to the external amp due to it not being a 6 channel amp! So I left them connected to the factory amp since I didn’t replace them! I’m sure that’ll be a future project when I have the funds!!! Anyway I’m very happy with my upgrade and can answer any questions anyone may have???

    Keep on Truckin’

20190428_202719.jpg 20190428_202754.jpg I'm in the process now doing my JBL system now. I saw your previous post, I got the pac aph-ty04 harnesses for the amp instead of splicing into the wires. How did you finish behind the seat when you took the sub out?

I have the amps where the factory sub was and the sub is in the compartment behind the drivers rear seat!! I wish I would’ve known about that harness for the speakers!!! Oh well I plan on keeping this truck for a long time so I’m not too worried about it!!

Here’s how I mounted my setup. Amp rack where jbl sub was. I didn’t want to move the jbl amp too far as I would have had to cut and extend wiresFA107197-3412-4097-8DC4-AF7661C49A67.jpgD4DADBCE-8A1E-4931-BE5B-B5B2E451511A.jpg

What size sub do the 3rd gen come with? Wondering if you can upgrade the sub and if you can use factory amp or need a better one?

I was told by a couple people that did it that it sounds better, but limited by the factory amp.
