Hello all. Over the weekend I went ahead and installed the Joying HU over the weekend in my 15 Tacoma non JBL. I was able to get everything working, even backup camera using the default harness that Joying sent, but I cannot get the steering wheel controls to work. I attempted to program them, but no luck. I posted some follow up / questions over in the Joying thread posts 1112 and 1115:
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-joying-head-unit-thread.706997/page-56

Overall I think it comes down to the canbus that is not programmed within the Joying menu, but I am not sure which canbus I should select (see picture attached) If anyone has any recommendation or suggestions greatly appreciated.

None so far. Just installed it on Saturday. I am happy with it especially for the price.

I just bought this same head unit and it's being shipped. Did you purchase that special harness to get it to work with the SWC?

Hi. Which special harness? I didn’t buy any additional harness. I just used the harness that it came with.

Got it. the link to the Joying site was for a "Toyota Special Harness" so I thought you bought the harness to get the SWC to work.

When I bought mine (Amazon). you slected your vehicle and by default it came with the right harness. I think the choices were JBL or non-JBL. My unit has been in for a couple years now and has been flawless. Even put OBD fusion on it linked to a bluetooth OBD reader so I don't have to use my phone to see all the gauges

Do you have any steps on how you achieved this? This would be so beneficial, at least for me. Thank you in advance

If you are referring to the OBD fusion it is easy. Only a few really cheap OBD plugins will work with the unit. I bought the one below based on other posts in this forum.
    https://www.amazon.com/obdator-Blue...t=&hvlocphy=9021203&hvtargid=pla-571956337377

You connect it to the head unit via the head unit bluetooth menu exactly like you do your phone. Since the head unit is an android unit you can install OBD Fusion from the Google Play App store. As long as your phone is connected already the connection should allow it to download using your phones data. I found it easier though just to connect via wifi to the router in my house as it was about 100 times faster. Download the app, purchase any addons (like Toyota). When you start the app you have to select connect every time but it connects pretty seamlessly, then just set up your OBD fusion dashboard like you want. My front end on the Joying is the AGAMA car launcher so I just made one of the buttons OBD to make it easy to get to. Another cool thing is you can add a a lot of different apps on there that you could not with a regular head unit. I have my Garmin maps and a few others on there as well

Thanks man. I have a different odb2 scanner but just got it installed and connected. All I am missing now is to add the user PID for tranny temp that I have configured in the app on my phone. Thanks again

Any luck on the SWC? I have a different joying with no buttons or and I can’t seem to register my SWC to the HU.

You will have to scroll down a little but try this setup. Works with the Toyota special harness. Not the universal.
