Ummmm.... Toyota tells you when to turn the fog lights on... only when you turn the headlights on. Some people... me included, wish you could turn the fogs on when ever yo want, and I will be doing this soon as well.

Well put. my buddy just bought a 2011 Sierra and they come like this factory. he also has head and fog HID's.. so i wanted mine like this.. i just did it casue i think it looks sweet, not to mention my fogs are brighter than my headlights.. and THE NUMBER ONE REASON: WHEN YOU TURN YOUR HIGH BEAMS ON, THE FOGS DO NOT GO OUT!!!!! my truck looks sick sitting there w. fog lights and the red LED markers!

Got it from user lextech...was it this one or did you splice so you can use fog lights without parking lights???

Glad you're happy with the results--

I did it so I can have them on anytime w. Or w.o markers.. just the blue wire connector onto the green wire.. I'm not a fan of the yellow fogs.. but hey to each there own.. we don't build these trucks for other people.. we build them for ourselves .

Yep, it's very useful. Easy way to get DRL that you can turn on/off at will. And the best part is them staying on with high beams. The high beams in vehicles don't project wide enough on windy roads. We've got one spot near home where it's a downhill, sweeping left turn with trees on both sides...doing 25 mph at most. Need the high beams to see far enough. With fogs off, you can't see around the corner because they project straight ahead. The fogs add enough light to see the deer crossing around the corner. I barely stopped in time the other night. If the fogs were off or I'd been in our Highlander, no doubt I would have hit it as it crossed in front of me! So the fog light mod has saved me from hitting a deer at least once now.

A good reason for the mod is the ability to use the fogs while you have your brights on. Without them, you have limited close range vision.

Maybe you've never driven in the fog or a blizzard?

Headlights don't help, they actually hinder you as the lights hit the fog/snow in front of you and blinds you more than it illuminates the road.

Under those kind of conditions, you want to use your fog lights and NOT your headlights (hence the name). Why it isn't possible to enable them individually from the factory, I can't imagine...
