Been dealing with vibrations ever since installing my rear Dakar's. For the most part, I just lived with it as so many other things were going on with the truck. Recently they've been my main focus and nearly vibe free.

I've eliminated all driving and highway vibration in the last couple days with a new 2 piece drive shaft and 2* axle shims. All u-joint and drive line operating angles are dead on. Only remaining vibration is the take off shudder from 3~-15 MPH. It's the carrier bearing rubber deflecting and will be adding silicone to help stabilize it. The new drive shaft and shims makes the truck a absolute joy to drive around now, so smooth. I'll report back once I modify the carrier bearing and let everyone know the results.

I was ready to place orders for the rest of my lift parts this weekend but over the last couple days I've read so much stuff about vibrations that it seems like a guarantee. With my OCD I would never be able to live with them. It's got me thinking that maybe I should just install the Toytec/Eibach springs (1.6") that I already have and leave the back alone. I was planning on installing them with Bilstein 5100's set at 0.85" in the front and a Wheeler's 1.5" AAL in the rear but now I don't know...

The CB already had 3 holes in it. 2 in the top and one in the bottom.

I dropped the drive shaft out of my truck on a friday night (4x4, so its fixed flange at the pinion and transfer case). Supported the driveshaft on some blocks of wood so weight wasnt on the CB. got a tube of permatex ultra black and started pumping the shit into the cb till it oozed out all the holes.

Let it sit out of the truck over the weekend while i drove around in FWD (4hi without the rear shaft). Sunday evening threw it back in and drove to work the next day.

Does seem more of a hummming/chatter than a deep shudder like the takeoff vibe, however it does still do it in HI4

Noticed the last few days I feel the hum/chatter vibe in steering wheel/floorboard at 25mph accelerating or decelerating, doesn't matter if I'm hard braking or simply coasting down to 25mph without braking, so I dont think my specific case is weight shift angle changing...

I took my front hub bearings off to trim the splash guards for my big brakes and when I got to the driver side; there was very little grease on the inside of the bearing unlike the passenger side which was packed with white grease. The drivers side had little to none and what little there was, was black. I packed it with some white lithium synthetic grease I have for my bicycle bearings. Reinstalled and turned the axle shaft a bunch of times before reassembling. After about 30 miles the front drivers harmonic I had at 40MPH is still gone. But have no locked it into 4WD yet.

Attached is a pic of the passenger side. You can see the white grease inside the wheel bearing. I forgot to take a pic of the dry drivers side. Hopefully this helps some of you guys, if not maybe it'll add a little more life to your front wheel bearings if they are dry like mine were.

Well, I finished reading and pretty dam awesome all the help! Thanks.

I just installed an AAL in rear, about 1.5" from low range and front 3" spacer. I am getting vibration fight around 35 mph which stays there if I stay and 35 and goes away once I hit 40/42.

I will be checking angles today.

If anybody has a link for a tutorial or something to explain CB flip, I would appreciate it. I am understanding you unbolt CB bracket and flip 180 degrees and bolt back up. Some seemed to just spin the CB in place without moving or unbolting bracket?

    Much appreciated!

I had a bad banging chattering on hard take offs when my truck was on an incline.
Just did the CB flip and so far it cleared it up
All I did was unbolt the CB hold the shaft up with one hand and flip CB 180* and reattach.
    Took about 5min.
Will have to drive it around this week to see if its completely gone.

    I took my measurements.

    Pinion: 3.9
    DL from pinion: 7.8
    DL from TC: 6.8
    TC: 1.8

    I have a 3.9 degree working angle at U-joint/Pinion.
    I have a 5 degree working angle at U-joint/TC.
I have a 1 degree working at at the center U-joint.

I understand you want center working angle to be equal to rear pinion working angle. Answer: Looks like I want to get my rear pinion down 2.9 degrees. So I would want a 3 degree shim with fat part facing forward. This would put me within limits and give .1 degree movement when pinion torques.

Sound right? I just starting learning this couple days ago so feedback welcomed!

I put an AAL from low range in rear and 3" spacer up front.

DOES ANYBODY KNOW STOCK PINION ANGLE for 2013 Tacoma?

so are you flipping the cb bracket? or flipping the whole round rubber and bracket? i have a slight vibe as well at 20mph after OME lift kit installed

^^^ ... IMO, this is VERY possible and has been a major factor in Tacoma's driveshaft vibration problems --> that the driveline angles were off a bit from the factory ... especially on the 4x4s.

I flipped the whole rubber and bracket. Its been almost a month and no more banging. :):)
If some body has a bracket laying around should check to see if the metal bracket is centered over the rubber.
Could be if not centered it could raise or lower the saft.

Let me understand this CB flip....

If your under the truck looking at the bearing. You see arrows pointing forward. This is the correct installation ...right?

I just put my driveshaft back in and I've always had the shutter. If I flip it then it would raise the shaft up creating a steeper angle since the bearing bracket is a tiny bit offset.

    I have a 5" lift and a 5/8" CB spacers

That's how I put mine on this time around. I thought that was the proper way. Not the flipped way.....

    Great to hear!

    You have rear AAL?

Do you know your working angles for drivelines and pinion?
