I'm not sure if it is a CST thing or install error. Beats me man. I can just tell you I don't have the gap on my rear seats.

yeah Ive got the CST and have a gap as well. I figured it was cause the leather was pulling it tight. I was thinking maybe I didnt adjust them right either (dont think there is that much adjustment.

Seems like the last two threads are not even install threads.(I just skimmed thru them) Seems like they just show pictures of them installed. I used homers install and this DIY armrest seems good.

John you said to leave the cloth on but what should we use to stick the leather to the cloth? And what do you recommend use to reattach the armrest?

I would suggest using 3M #90 Adhesive spray. Be sure to spray both the cloth and back of vinyl for best results. You are also gonna want to spray the back edges of the armrest and edges of material so you can pull tightly/evenly for a nice finish. I intend on recovering Andrews armrests this Friday am so I will keep yas posted w/pics. Remove the melted plastic rivot heads with a 3/8" bit and Remount the armrest using a #10 x 1/2" sheet metal screw W/WASHER! I will take pics and post during the R/R. Chockie I'm almost willing to fly across the country and redo your armrests at a $100 a pop... :D John

I would use a Dremel instead of a dril bit. To many people have destroyed the armrest because they drill to far. All you haveto do with the Dremel is take the top of the melted plastic rivot down with the little sander tip.

I'm guessing it is installer error. I'm going to take the smaller seat off and see if anything looks weird. I had my dealer look at the back seats and they said the leather is probably pulled so tight the foam is compressed. They said the seats don't have any adjusted. My smaller seat has a bigger gap than the larger one. For all you home installers, is there any part of the install you think may cause the gap?

I really do like the quality of my CST kit.:)

    John,

Where are the best spots in your opinion for the heat switches?

    Hi Will,
I really think it depends on your application and taste. A factory look is good to me. Chockie who only has 1 cup holder I think utilized that space well. I do however see them possibly getting bumped but hard to say?? Robert utilized his seat surrounds, again good idea. Locations of course are limited due to switch depth so double check that prior to drilling the 1/2" hole :) I'll be working on a Tacoma or 2 this Friday so I'll see what other options may be out there. Keep ya posted. John

Thanks John! Yeah, keep us posted. I need to decide by Monday, curious what other spots would possibly work.

You could also try mounting the switches between the 12volt and cig lighter. IMO it would looke pretty damn stealthy.

I did think about that, not sure if the cords will extend that far.

Josh, These look great and I love Da Switches!! Nice job with everything Bud. Still pretty cool there in Jersey, what do you think of the heating elements themselves? Thanks for the pics, John

Seats look great. I like the switches too! I think I like it on the console area. Have you noticed now that you have them there, if they will get bumped or be in the way at all?
