about 80% of lifts are installed with floor jacks and jackstands I would say.

I pulled a 2 inch lift from my Tacoma using a floor jack and jack stands. I also installed a 6" lift on my jeep and that one required all of the stock suspension mounts be cut off.

A lift is a super nice luxury, but not required.

Recommend 6 ton jackstands. Gives me 24 inches of lift. Got tired of building a wood pile under my 3 ton jackstands.

Control arms and diffs don't change height with lifts. A little in the front but not much. Even 6" lifts have the same diff ground clearance.

The only thing that changes jacking points is tires. The frame will be higher but its a really inefficient place to lift a truck.

I used a bottle jack with my tacoma simply due to space in my little garage, but now I have a standard lowpro jack and it lifts everything.

Just make sure you have enough lift on your jack and stands.

I used 2x 4 ton jack stands, 2x 2.25 ton jackstands, and a 4 ton floor jack to install a 2" front, 3" rear lift on my Tacoma.

Only gripe is, I wish I had owned a higher reach floor jack; mine tops out at 21" Keep that in mind for when you install your components; you'll need enough lift to install your wheels again.

All of my lifts have been done with floor Jack's and Jack stands and a hydrolic ram.

Totally not needed. Did my suspension as well as the ECGS bushing in the diff with two jack stands and a handful of basic hand tools

6ton jack stands, solid 3ton floor jack. 1/2" drive Breaker bar, ratchet. 14mm, 17mm, 19mm, 21mm, 22mm sockets. 18mm wrench (ratcheting is best). 1/2" drive torque wrench, 10-150lbs. Is pretty much all you need.
Oh, and a long ratchet strap or two. When you get ready to remove the 2 LBJ bolts, put the ratchet strap on the UCA, across engine back to opposite side UCA. Holds them up and out of the way. Otherwise they want to flop around and your CV axle likes to pop out in the boot. Makes it much easier.
