can I just use a little splicey splice for that or do I need to take out the ground wire entirely and run a split line into there?

You can cut the ground wire and attach the ill- wire to the switch side of the harness. It is not a splice. The wire going to the relay will no longer be needed.

If you have a 2Lo specific visor card, please reference that. The method for getting into 2Lo is identical to 4lo with the exception of pressing your 2lo switch first. When you press the switch you should hear an audible click from the relay.

In addition to above guidance, firstly can you get 4lo to work correctly? (Without touching 2lo mod at all)

I wanted to chime in here with a recent discovery. I’ve bought numerous 2Lo harnesses, some for normal use and some for experimentation with deleting the ADD and solving the problems that occur with manual transfer case. It’s a great kit for sure, especially for guys with manuals needing to back a trailer. I realize this is not the thread for the kit itself, but since it’s the development thread, I figured I’d chime in here.

I did have one thing I didn’t like about the kit, which was the failure message you get if you go out of order on the switch & knob, when returning to 2H. In other words, turning the knob back to 2WD before unclicking the 2L switch.

I did some testing and learned that if you snip the relay ground and splice it to pin 13 of connector F13, you will have no more failures if you go out of order. What this does, is it controls the ground side of the relay with the 4WD request signal from the knob. This request signal is available in both 4H and 4L, and goes away when the knob is turned back to 2WD.

Essentially, this means that if you enable the 2L switch, then no matter what position you turn the knob to, you’ll always be in 2WD, and can keep switching back and forth between all 3 transfer case modes with no problem at all.

If you want 4WD, then you’d simply operate the knob as normal, with the 2L switch not pressed. Since most of us probably drive on the street, this means you could leave the 2L switch enabled as long as you like for quick switching in and out of 2L, whenever you want to just quickly turn the 4WD knob.

It took me about 20 minutes to make the snips and the crimps to tweak it. Very happy with the results.
