Get an E36. I just sold my 98 supercharged M3 for 9,900. you would be better off ditching the E30. as stated above you'll spend 8,000 for the swap and you are in dire need of a paint job so there is another 1500-3000.

I actually had someone who wanted to trade me for a 1998 e36 M3. I just can't part with this car, I know it sounds like I'm full of it but I have some really cool hook-ups for fab / Paint & Body work and most everything. I have good friends who own shops and I barter t-shirts and stickers with them all the time. let's just say they owe me big time...:D

And the car will be for my three kids so they can have some fun with it as well. That's why I really do not want too much power, just enough to take it out on some rallies or some cool fun rides.

I know if I do a swap and keep a BMW motor in it the car will hold some value. But really never see a need to have to sell it. Now if it would not had a salvaged title I would keep it original 100%

Good luck with whatever route you go. A Toyota truck motor would probably be my last choice though. I'm sure it's been done a lot by the BMW crowd, but I'd like to see the e46 M3 motor in there. That would be sweet.

Throttle by wire is in 03 and newer.

You should look into a lexus engine of some sort. Maybe the 4.0 1uzfe?

Thanks... and yes those are some sweet motors but I'm sure a bit expensive.

yeah My first choice would be a V10 and it has been done but I could never afford that :D

I was looking into that, My friend has a is300 that is wrecked from the rear end. I will take a look at it this weekend. It is a 2005 but I will see how bad it is. I do not know if it is a v6 or an inline.

and nothing better than an LS. Ls2 can be had fairly cheap with trans. Relatively compact, light, 400hp 400ft/lbs 20mpg easy in something like that. No modifications needed to put it right up there in power.

YEA, but those things could hit low 12s out of the box on stock narrow ass touring tires.

The ls2 is one of those engines that just doesn't need mods. You get factory reliability out of the box with numbers that the hot rod guys try to get out of their mouse engines.

Of course everyone thinks they need a cam and forced induction, but why blow the reliability? To drive straight for 12 seconds? Nah.. Not unless it's a track only car.

Thanks again... Do you know where I can get some info on what the transmissions weigh ??? or is that asking too much... :D Thanks again

I hate you.... :D not really, Just that something tells me to get a nice big engine in there but the responsible side of me says stay with a nice dependable engine... and now all you guys in here got me thinking about the big motors... :D

What do they run for with a tranny and all the wiring ??? and are they out of the camros or only the Vette's ??? Thanks again

I hate you too...:D it's all in good fun, I know you guys mean well and a car like that should have some good power but in all reality I just want a nice freeway car that can be driven every day. I put about 30 - 40K miles on my cars a year. So it will be driven up and down the state of california.

About 5-10 grand with t-56 bolted to it and all electrics.
I'm too practical for a GTO or vette, but I still get stiff when thinking about my gto. That engine was tits. Suspension and pizza cutter wheels had to go. But once I did. THat car was a rocket on rails.

There.. Now you've got your advise from tacoma world.. Now PISSOFF to an LS forum
    :D
Seriously, you'd already have it in by now if you were over there.
And I'm sure it's been said, but the tacoma engine is a truck engine. If you want a GR series engine then you need a 3gr or a 4gr.. not the trucky 1gr.
