Mine did this today for the first time. 90+ degrees in ga and 3 hours on the road. Shifter stuck in 6th. I was able to push it out with some force.

This sucks...I'm test driving an M/T on Monday and it sounds like there's no way I can test for the issue unless I drive the truck for 40-50 mins. Any advice?

I was hoping as I read thru the pages that newer builds didn't have the same issue. But your join date suggests you just bought your truck. When was it built, if I may ask?

I was quite disappointed when the truck starting having the problem, considering I've only had it for 2 months! I had gone in to order the truck in March and finally picked it up in April when it was made.

It's currently at the dealership waiting to be fixed; tomorrow will be a week since I took it in. Currently waiting to get a word from the manufacturer on what's going to be done, I'm also looking into the lemon law process. I'll let you know by the end of next week.

I had them start the truck and leave it running for 30 mins until I got to the dealership. That did the trick when the tech took it out to test, you should try that. I've noticed it happens after having the engine running for more then 30 mins and not just while driving.

This thread is scaring the crap out of me, dealer is trying to change color to inferno and if so i will get it. I have a MT 2013 4cyl and have never had a issue, this is not good to buy a new truck and have this issue.

I think every one who voted should post the model offroad/sport, plus how many miles, build date or when bought to see if this issue has got better in the past 2 months so it should look like this.

Sport/sticks or say no issue/built in may, jun, etc/at what milege did it start acting up

this suck i dont know if i should hold of till 2017 or knowing toyota they wont change a thing tranny wise and be the exact same one as a 2016...

please to all may,jun builds comment to see if maybe ratio is better.

You are right to be scared, especially when most of the threads about the 2016 are problems.

It is frustrating to hear about all these issues with the 2016s.

In my 5 years of owning my 07, I only posted 170+ messages on this forum...and most of them positive messages.

This time around, while waiting for my 2016, I have already posted 70+ messages and most of them trying to get details on what problems others are facing.

I don't know how I can feel good about purchasing a truck even if it provides good initial drivability during the test drive, when I know others have experienced problems only weeks/months after buying their trucks. I expect more from a Tacoma. I expect to only be at the delearship for routine maintenance.

    Mostly stuff I built.
7000 miles on mine and no issues. I have taken a couple of 4-5 hour road trips and towed 8-10 relatively heavy loads with it. I also have a 60 mile one way commute to work.

I just wonder if I should wait on the 2017 tacoma.... I sure don't want to buy a new truck only to have to fight the dealer to put in a new transmission, maybe I could get lucky and have no issues. Here is the part that scares me if they have issues in a new vehicle what about 30,000 miles or 50,000 miles or when the warranty runs out then you are screwed. Usually on the normal toyota frame of mind you never have to worry about any problems, this post is making me not want to buy one and wait but to be honest I don't know what to do.

I've had my 16 DCSB MT OR for almost two weeks and have 1k miles on it, including several 2+ hour drives. No issues, the clutch and tranny feel pretty similar to the 1999 OR 5spd I had back in the day.

15500 on the clock including numerous long road trips. Zero problems. 10/10, would buy again.

I made a post for dates these trucks were built to see if there is a pattern for just early built transmissions to the previous 2-3 months to see if toyota might have fixed the issue or not. Maybe they fixed it who knows everyone who has I problem please post in the poll and vote... Will give me and other ppl a answer to if we should get one or wait on the 2017 thanks...

For everyone of you guys with a issue one thing is a fact if you have any issue with sticking or got a transmission swap you need to do a claim with Toyota corporate office. If it's not noted and there are not enough claims it will not be fixed through the build....in the corporate office this sticking is not a issue or a problem and not one owner has had a transmission replaced not one....

The dealer's and corporate said this info on the problems with a manual is all BS and is a lie which I no is a lie. If there were 1 to 2 cases it could be 1 in a million but there is to many posts on this.. lol they even said not 1 auto has came with low fluid which 1000% is a lie... if you have any copy's of tranny replacement through service or claim numbers post them up so I can give a supervisor the proof..

Number is 1800-331-4331 talk to supervisor and email/fax proof of replacement.
