Trying to research this kit a little bit, it seems you gain either 5.5" or 7" width in the front end. Is anything done to the rear to match? This would bug me alot if I was to do it (I'm not gonna do it but I'm curios)

Dirt Lifestyle installed this kit a while back. It was a good watch...

I think most people doing this sort of upgrade are designing custom rear suspensions and using axles from other, larger trucks. This is discussed at the end of the first video.

At the absolute very least, you're running this with mid-travel rear suspension, a shock relocate, and wheel spacers (in the interim while you prep your long travel rear).

Yes it’s an IFS replacement only. Why is the difference in front/rear axle widths your biggest worry?

I wouldn't say it's a worry, Im asking like whats common practice for equalling out the rear after you do the front. It all adds to the total cost. And now I know - you spend another 3 - 4k

With the cost of the rclt and still having to then buy the steering rack, shocks, and CV’s, I’d be looking into a cost analysis against 74weld portals where you get front/rear portals, brake kit, and new rear axles, not to mention a built in regear. And avoid the headache of the rclt install.

Or, you know... getting a purpose built rock buggy. At some point, doing this to a Tacoma is just forcing a square peg in a round hole.

I did a long travel on another vehicle, went +3” each side in the front, so +6” total
Added 1.5” spacers in the rear, so +3” total in the rear
You can tell the difference, but it’s not noticeable

As mentioned, some will stick with wheel spacers while majority will probably end up with custom housing. Honestly, if you’re building a custom housing, I recommend upgrading your rear and to a FF9.5 from a 80 series with 30s or 100 series 32s or F9.

The RCLT will probably run ~$15k w/ tax & ship, add another ~$5 for labor if you can’t do the work. Additional, complete custom rear housing going rate are ~$5-7k plus custom suspension for another ~$5k.

What is your intended use? Rock crawler, I rather go Martec

Truck is too far gone now, would cost more money and time to undo everything at this point

I get it, but what is your reason for making the rear wider? Is it aesthetics or performance? Why are you asking about the width as opposed to other factors? You could go with a 3 link rear or maybe just a shock relocation to get more performance. I’m unsure if width is buying you much, but I’ve never done a deep dive on this.

It costs to Floss. I’ll see if my bro responds I’ll tag him in this thread. he has a second GEN fully built spared no expense. The thing is sick on 37’s RCLT. @TacoEspecial Mark!!!!!
