About a week ago my truck started making this noise. The vibes I had been having have now gone away with no explanation, their just gone.

The noise is mostly there when I'm cruising, if I take my foot off the gas, the sound is gone. Sometimes I can hear it when accelerating. The sound goes away in nuetral as well.

Also Today when I went to start my truck up, I got a huge cloud of white smoke and had some white smoke while idling for about 10 seconds but after putting the truck in gear.

Here is a video, taken with my camera phone. I'll get a better one tommorow with my actual camera on the way to work.

Any idea what the hell is going on?

I will be very interested in a diagnosis. I experienced the puff of white smoke during startup. I have not noticed any noises, although I will be paying attention for them tomorrow on the commute.

Condensation causes white smoke? Please explain. I'm no rocket scientist!

Smoke is coming out of the tailpipe. Thought it was a little more than normal and sense I have issues with the truck as of late thought I should post it.

The video for some reason will not upload with the proper sound over Photobucket... Will make an actual video with my camera Tomorrow.

white smoke equals steam.. cold METAL exhaust pipe and warm exhaust make steam and condensation.

I don't have the noise you have, but I do have a steering wheel vibration at cruising speeds. When I let off the gas, the vibe disappears. It's most noticeable above 1500 rpms and when the engine is under load (slow acceleration, going up grades, etc.). I've had it in to the dealer twice. The first time they said they couldn't confirm it (bs). The second time they agreed, but they only road force balanced the tires (cop-out). The balancing helped, but it only removed a little additional vibe I was experiencing. The engine vibe is definitely still there. It's driving me crazy.

Subscribing in case your prob is related to mine.

Can you pinpoint where this sound is coming from (e.g. engine bay, transmission, rear end)? If you rev the motor in neutral do you still hear the noise? If not I think the source may be your transmission.

I had some unusual vibes like the one your describing, but they actually went away on their own... Which is either really good or really suspicious, you can take your pick.

I believe the sound is coming from the passenger side engine bay, but the girlfriend who was with me when the video was being made thinks its coming from the driver side engine bay. Either way, its from the front end of the truck.

Yeah, I was suspicious my problem may develop into yours when you mentioned the vibes in your original post. So I'll just sit here and
Sorry I'm not any help other than some bumps. Good luck to ya though.

U-joint or Center Bearing is bad. Take a look at your driveshaft.

Yep, gas is a chain of C and H (carbon and hydrogen).

What exactly am I looking for?

A U-joint is fairly easy to replace on my own, isn't it? Not much mechanical experience but I've got no other choice.
