Here ya go. Only a ~4 mile trip, but back roads doing ~45mph, and with many hills (up and down). 2nd photo was me driving on a flat spot. Mpg meter stays just like that as long as I'm on a flat surface. Once I get into the hilly parts, it fluctuates down to 15mpg going up hills. (my tank average got destroyed today as my wife had an outpatient procedure and was sedated. So truck idled for nearly 30 minutes as I ran into Lowes as she slept)

I wanna see that after a full tank! If you overage 27mpg for a whole tank, please give your truck to Toyota so they can replicate whatever is going on in your truck for the rest of us!

Haha, if it was all back roads that I traveled, sure. But as I said. Once I get into the city areas, ECT comes on, and I make the average go from 25-27, down to 15-17. Enjoy my exhaust notes too much blasting around town. 1 thing I did notice, doubt it's relevant, but when I got my exhaust done, notice average fuel mileage went up. Probably due to engine break in, but figured I'd mention it.

Oh, and there's a video on YouTube of a guy who has a pro, he averages 25-27 also.

    all tore up already
Never had a vehicle punish or reward the "right speed" like this truck does. 45-55mph I can literally average close to 25mpg on my computer. Did a 220 mile trip on all country back roads last month and averaged 24.8. That's before figuring 11% increase in rotational circumference. But I've also seen 13mpg average on the highway(yeah it was a fast highway and I may have been going even faster)

285/70r17 e ply, couple Inches of lift, nothing to help mpg and cheap gas. But... and I suspect this is the key...MT:burnrubber:

Mixed ride, back roads and city driving. Kept my foot out of it.

I am running 285/70/17's on a 3 inch lift and it says I get 18-19 but I am not filling up any more than before so I don't know.

Your speedometer and MPG calculations are inaccurate because of the bigger wheel and tire combo circumference. You're getting better actual mileage than the computer is telling you.

This is an interesting tire size. You said you fit these with no lift?? How much of a lift do you have now?

There are so many factors that go into MPG it’s mind boggling. Overall weight, bigger tires, aerodynamics, driving patterns, stop and go traffic, lead foot, headwinds/tailwinds, tire pressures, fuel formulation, fuel octane, whether you are feeling bloated from the burrito you just ate, how much gas you now have from said burrito and how fast you need to make it to a toilet, how many times you hit that little button that’s supposed to make your truck go faster, and of course how angry your wife/girlfriend (or both) are at you RIGHT now etc.

    That being said...

Another thing to not forget about is tire pressure. You can see a slight decrease with lower pressures( upwards to 3%) This is especially true for those of us that run lower pressure off road. I did a two day trip last fall 90% off road running 25ish psi and I averaged about 14mpg. Running 4x4 drive a lot, plus tire pressure plus other factors lead to lowers mpg when off roading. I generally get 17-18 on pavement. Also remember that your pressures decrease with temp. Now that it is winter I’ve noticed my tire pressures are low by a few PSI and my MPG was down a 1-2%. Once aired up my MPG increased. But then again there is also fuel formulation that change in the winter. Out west they add ethanol to the fuel in the winter not sure about the rest of the country. This will decrease your mileage. I believe CA runs 10% or more year round. I live near CA. If I fuel up in CA during the summer I notice a drop in MPG. But who knows maybe it’s just my CA bias kicking in??? I have access to ethanol free where I live. I suppose I could try an experiment using ethinol free for awhile.

Its extremely hard to compare MPG from one person to an other because of all the factors that effect MPG.

Yup, on TRDORs with stock wheels and no front mudflaps, they'll fit just fine with no lift.

I have 885/Dakar, so it's about 1" up front and 2.5" in the back unloaded.

I'm at roughly 14-14.5 here in California in the foothills. Lift and tires lost at least 2-3mpg

Alot of people are saying they loose 2-3 mpg... Curious if the speedometer/odometer being a little off makes this number exaggerated?
For the sake of this example, lets pretend you don't loose any fuel efficiency...
    18 gallons at 20mpg is 360 miles.
If upgrading from stock 265/70r16 to 285/75/r16, the odometer would say you went 332 miles when you actually went 360. This would display/calculate as 18.6mpg

1050981C-153F-4054-8BD4-AE5A563A9ADF.jpgJust got these results driving on the freeway. I’m currently running 285/70r17 Falken Wildpeaks on a King lift. I also have the Hypertech speedometer calibrator installed. I stay around 70-75 MPH and keep it in between 1500 and 2000 RPMs. I guess the key is to not have a heavy foot ‍
