It piggy backs off the stock remote. So your range is only as good as your OEM key fob. If you get the cellular add on you can start from anywhere as long as you have cell service.

 

Nope. I spoke with them and they will do it. We’ll get you guys about 3 months back for free. Intermittent is not what I sold you. I sold you on flawless, unless you’re in the Boonies and coverage sucks, then I sold you on flawless when your ass comes back into the city...coverage is one thing, but they can see where you’ve gone radio silent where coverage was still good, that’s the key. Anyways, as a retailer, they won’t question me. I just need to provide them with the list of names and 16 digits. I know all the guys there and I’m cool with them all. It’s not being questioned at all. In fact, I called to give them a little weekend kick in the ass on things, and he brought it up first! Made my job real easy! So I said “we have to, this is the least we could do to reclaim brand perception”...

Anyways this is how to get me the 16 digit from the app.

 

Jimmy - any chance we can call the company for the cell module, for support?

Its so aggravating that the 4G module sometimes works, and most of the time lately, it doesn't.

I'm fairly certain that's what him and JMeitz (spelling?) are working on. It's not just you, it's a fairly large majority of us and they (Jimmy & JMeitz) are staying on top of it.

 

Jeremie @jmeitz has concluded the OTA push to him resolved it. He’s going to test it against the latest remote starter FW that others post-issue have to make sure it doesn’t fix you guys and break the others tomorrow. And that’s all, he’ll notify the manufacturer and they’ll push it out to you guys over a two day period, half the USA on one night, the other half the other. So I’d say at THIS point no more than a week and this fiasco is put to sleep for good. Thanks to all for hanging in there and rolling with us on this. The goal was to make sure everyone got what they paid for an would be satisfied with the ends. Looks like we’re now in the home stretch. So glad @jmeitz was successful in his tests, I couldn’t bear anymore issues and delays on your behalf anymore. It’s been long enough from back order to this...I’ve stressed way too much over this and for good reason! I need my life back of less worries haha...

 

PM me your full name and I’ll look up the purchase date to see what firmware you have. This is not affecting everyone so I want to make sure you’re not having signal issues as there are other things we can look at to solve issues you might be having that are unrelated yet coincidental, such as mounting location and orientation...totally remediable.

P.S. getting a hold of them will not get anything more done than one of our own here @jmeitz has done already. He’s gotten them to address, debug and resolve the issue...however, if you were affected early on, I can get lost time reset and added to your free year, case by case basis but I’d need to look you up first before I ask you for more info. Past that, calling them can’t get you more than that! We did all the leg work (Jeremie did more) for you guys who experienced the slight inconvenience since we sold it. So you just need to sit back and enjoy at this point, we got you!

 

It’s actually not a large majority...rather a handful, but a forum does sure make it feel like that because those who aren’t having issues won’t be vocal and come here and say much. Forums are where we gather to resolve issues and look for group hugs that were not the only ones, and in it together...like an AA meeting. Might be a geographical thing because hundreds more have your setup and haven’t had issues...since Black Friday.

I just don’t want people to have the perception that this has been ongoing out the box. If you purchased anything Remote start and/or smart module from me January 29th or after of this year, nothing here applies to you, or if you plan on buying, none of this will apply to you either.

 

Initially everything worked perfectly while testing with the cell module draped over the steering wheel and then I'd lose connection when I put it in the kick panel. I found a spot to secure the module high up in the dash near the windshield where I could see daylight when looking from under the dash and everything has been working perfectly since then. I ordered my system on 2/5. Definitely my favorite mod so far, and super easy to install.

2018 Toyota Tacoma PTS (Smart Key)

I don't have anything for the RX350, at least not plug n play, sorry! What I have is non-plug n play, 9 wires tapped, I include the t-taps pre-crimped on, these won't leave a trace, but there is an additional wire cut and open ends re-route to a clamp connector I provide. You can splice these together using my clamp connector before lease turn in and they won't know anything happened, because you'll TAKE this remote starter off and re-use on your next vehicle (and there may even be a plug n play harness for whatever THAT vehicle may be later on that you can get from me). If your the down n dirty elbow grease type, this is pretty easy as the connections are ALL next to each other and located just as easily where the Tacoma connections would otherwise be. This kit is a lot less since I'm not providing the harness. PM me if still interested.

 

UPDATE - THOSE EXPERIENCING SMART MODULE ISSUES ONLY - PURCHASED ON OR BEFORE 1-28-19

PM me your FULL NAME (First, Last), and your 16 Digit Serial Code that can be found on the doorjamb sticker you should've placed on your vehicle, or via app by going through the following screens up above in my post #1263.

The update will only be pushed to those who've experienced issues. If you've purchased ON or after January 29th, do not join this list, as this is beta and could conflict. You have the latest. Any issues you see, are likely location of mounting, orientation, or spotty signal. If you do something that causes more issues, you'll be responsible for shipping both ways for a re-flash.

With that said, I'm going to keep a spreadsheet log, will look up order dates and keep track of everything, mainly because those who truly have been inconvenienced, will be getting credit time lost on their free year and are the ones that need it asap. They will be pushing it out one by one, so once you've been pushed the update, I'll be notified, then they'll push the next person, and so on.

YOU WILL HAVE TO RE-SYNC (RE-TEACH THE SMART MODULE TO THE REMOTE STARTER NOT THE REMOTE STARTER TO THE VEHICLE)

If you have the instructions, it's pretty much the installation instructions. I'll post a picture here for the time being. Just unplug the smart module from the remote starter COMPLETELY (leave the remote starter plugged into your vehicle. When I say re-sync, I just mean re-install as if you just got it from me for the first time...so if you still have my paper instructions, that's what you'll use...or this...stand by. (I'll post a legit copy to my website after dinner (which is also breakfast and lunch for me)...

 

I still have them unfortunately I’m not at home. It will have to wait until then.
