Those terminals on the relay need shrink wrap over them. Did you check the fuse?

I really prefer the bent pin single wire method. Way cleaner and no chance of short.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, fuse is still good. Assuming it is the 15a FOG FR in the main fuse box under the hood. I will shrink tube all the connectors now. Think I can reuse the same relay location or should I move it to the open spot next to it?

@DoulosXP Hope some of the better wiring guys will step in.. but I’d start off by checking for voltage between that melted terminal and the one right next to it. Should be ~12v.

@gotblika Thanks, appreciate your help! Yeah I checked the voltage of the terminal and the relay just to be sure and both tested correctly. I decided to de-pin the terminals and re-pin them in the next blank in the relay box. Tested and fogs work again! Then I shrink wrapped everything and buttoned it all up. I’ll keep an eye on things just in case.

Yeah having exposed stuff like that is always no bueno.

As far as the melting, looks like your flat blade connector was not properly seated / making very minimal contact down in the terminal which created heat and caused the melting. The two big blades even if they shorted out due to lack of insulation would just make your fogs go on constant.

I haven't read the whole thread, so maybe this is old news. I found a clean route for the +12 lead - through a vent hole and across the factory loom to the smaller relay box.

Going to be doing this soon to mine. Just all the lovely rain All weekend long well I don't feel like going outside and messing with it. Lol
On really dark nights and you have to use your high beams to see things way out in the distance (like dear/elk jumping out into the road), It would be nice to have the fog lights to see up close as well.

It looks like the images are long gone. Today I went in to relocate my TRD Supercharger intercooler 12V tap from the EFI fuse to here and at the same time investigated also changing to the stealth version. Unfortunately, my general purpose blade connectors are larger than the original ~5mm wide one on the Red-Black wire, so I didn't feel like I wanted to move that one over to the unused spot and run the tap to the relay there.

Does anyone know the Toyota part numbers or sizes/sources of the female blade connectors on the 2.5 gen secondary fuse box (that houses the fog light, EFI, and AC/DC inverter relay)? @Puppypunter / @caribe makaira / @daveeasa ?

Female blade connector removed from the secondary fuse box on the Red-Black wire on my 2015. (Approx 5mm wide, ~2mm tall)

It's all back together and buttoned up in the garage. It's a decent disassembly time to pull the pin out, but I can tell you it's an otherwise standard female blade terminal like this one:

I’ve had this done since about 2015. I have had KC G4’s for about 2 years.

recently quit working so now I have to figure out where the power is not going to/through.

whether it be one of the relays (everything else works fine) or maybe even the switch.

with truck running, the blue relay on the right side of this photo, the wire that is closest to my camera and up in the photo shows no voltage. Assuming it’s the ground.

The other 3 wires all have 14 volts to them.

The fog lights still do not illuminate.

Is there anywhere else to check other than the plugs at the fog lights for voltage or lack there of?

not a great electrical guy here (obviously) so any help would be great.

Nicely done sir a clean professional install the way it should be. Not sure if something like this can be done on 3rd gen due to the canbus system.

10 yr checkin on my mod.

Never once an issue, it's been installed as pictured in the original post for all this time with zero fuss and zero need to change things. My fog lights are on pretty much always too haha.
