Need to replace suspension parts sooner than I thought...

Did you check the vin number ? Toyota Dealer changed my LBJ's because cover on the recall...free is the best price

 

My '03 was included in the LBJ recall. But it may have already been done on your truck. The recall was started well over 10 years ago, and they only do it once. But worth checking it out.

 

Yeah... definitely worth to check out, mine was done 08/2016, they did that and the rust check for the spare tire holder , it was 55,000 miles then but regardless of mileage or years those type of recalls never expired.

I checked the LBJs...

There is no play! like not at all...

I checked them with the tire suspended and used a pry bar to pull the ball joint downward like in the video posted above.

I also checked for play side to side by grabbing the wheel at the 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock position and pushing/pulling. No movement.

That makes me feel a hell of a lot better.

Now I have to fix the uneven tire wear due to the bad shocks. Probably going to go with OME but it'll take a few months for me to gather the funds... I also wanna find that damn squeak... Sounds like it's coming from my sway bar bushings which seem to be aftermarket since they are blue.

I'm gonna look into the cost of buying whole control arms vs just bushings... My dad has a shop that would most likely have the tools necessary for the job.

 

I agree. When it comes time to replace my front suspension parts I'll go OEM all the way. I've got 171,800+ on them now with no problems. When I replace I want the same length of service I've gotten from the factory whenever that day comes.

Yep, factory Toyota parts are very expensive which is why they last so long. If I can afford it that's what my Taco will get. The day will come when I can't afford them and at that time I'll have to go with the cheaper aftermarket brands.

Hopefully, the real expensive parts will have already been replaced and the Taco will last me until I die.
