ouch ! aftermarket racks are around $300 i believe .
then new tie rods in/out aren't to bad price wise .

My tow wire harness is trashed . and i added a new dent to my already dented rear bumper .

if you end up fixing it yourself . let me know ill come up and give you hand .

I think I'm going to give this a try at some point:
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/towing/195296-trailer-plug-relocation.html

Thanks for the offer to help. I haven't picked it up yet but I'll play it by ear to see how it drives. I'll keep you posted.

No problem . I'd drive till you hear noises or the alignment goes out again . Could be just a inner tie rod ... Maybe
Thanks for the link I'll be doing that this weekend along with my icons:D

nice did you find a good deal on a used set ?
Its not to hard to get them on.
This is for the tc Uca's but it's pretty much the same for install
I can give you a hand mike if you install them on a weekend .

Yeah, I picked them up used and I'm going to put the new Spec-Ride bushings on them before the install. They changed hands a few times so there's no way of really knowing how many miles they've seen plus they have the original style bushings that some people had problems with.

Thanks for the link! I don't think the install will be terrible, I just should have paid more attention when you guys did it! I'll probably buy new UCA bolts and cut the old ones off just to make life easier and avoid any bending of the sheet metal.

I'll let you know when I get them on, maybe do a mini mod day at my place! I'll only be doing that, no other suspension work for now so I can actually have burgers and dogs on the grille by lunch time :D

John, that's a nice looking trail, where is that?

one of our florida members bought a reman rack a few months ago. i want to say he only paid $100 after he got the core deposite back. said the first one he recieved had a small leak at one of the seals, but he told the company about it and they swapped it out for another one no problem. so $100 plus some steering fluid and an afternoon under the truck and you can be good to go :)

only a $100:eek: What does it have for a warranty. I wish i could have found one of those before i got mine from autozone. Though i only got it for the lifetime warranty.

The racks are actually fairly easy to install. The hardest part is getting the rack perfectly centered so you have the same scope in your steering wheel left to right. May require setting it up once and then dropping part of the rack to realign the steering shaft on the rack. Definatly something that a TW shop day can accomplish.:D

nice. i may be up near there for a wedding this summer. if i am and i take the truck i'll have to get in contact with you guys and maybe wheel a day there :)

i think it had a 1 year warranty. he got it from an ebay based store, so i gues the tradeoff for cheap, was that he was that it's not a reputable store or anything.

Still you could buy three of them for the price of one pretty good.

So after having some fun yesterday and flexing my truck on the rocks . I have come to the conclusion that I need to chop my cab mounts and weld in a plate.
Does anyone on here weld ? I can pay you for time and materials . I have a angle grinder with cutoff wheels . I just need someone to weld up the plates .

    will do!

for your cab mount chop, if you need to go wheeling again before you find a welder, you can cut it and leave it as is for the time being. i know a couple guys who have cut theirs and never reboxed.

Aftermarket bumper won't solve the problem of having to cut the cab mount.

I had to have my rack and pinion replaced, because I had a giant leak that the fluid would just run out of. Luckily I was able to get mine covered under the warranty. I was quoted around $1600 for parts and labor.

I don't see any fluid, yet. Firestone quoted me $987.00 It might also be the spindle from what others have mentioned. It must be so minor that I can't see anything.
