Maybe... Hopefully they reinforced the handle itself on that one. I have had 3 different P&L units on my 2nd Gen. Every single one has been cheap, and 2 have broken. I keep buying it as my only locking solution though.

    Welcome!
Funny, I just installed the older version yesterday! Seems pretty heavy-duty to me and has a metal bracket. The new wiring clips are cool but I had a drill. I wouldn’t pay the extra $45.

Why buy pop and lock when you can get the Toyota OEM at that price point? Is very quite, completely plug and play and should last as long as your truck, plus one year warranty thru Toyota.

I don't have much experience with wiring electrical components, but I read a few things and was able to do a decent job building one from scratch from Amazon parts. Maybe cost me about $50 and I have some electrical connectors leftover for future lighting projects. I love that P&L makes a good kit but I have a hard time thinking it's worth that much.

This is correct. FTR get a factory kit, better lock actuator, better wiring harness and completely plug and play.
