This blank pushed out really easy, didn't snap or click or anything? I just snaked my arm around until I could push first on the cubby spot that is molded into the switch cover and then to this blank which almost fell out in my hand?

What I want to do is mod/add a garage door opener to my base model taco.
    http://www.cnet.com/roadshow/auto/2016-toyota-tacoma-4wd-access-cab-i4-at-sr/specs/

After a week or so of crawling the forums I found this thread. I want to wire this to be powered by the truck my remote says 12v so I assume I don't need to use a step down converter?

There are some badass switches here and the only ones label "Garage Opener" I could find thus far.
    http://www.aironboard.com/online/pu...nt-garage-opener-momentary-led-green-red.html

I do have questions, one to remove the cubby/switch cover do I simply pull, pry and push it out for the clips to release OR do I first have to remove a dash 10mm bolt? Almost every where I have seen has this topic they say you have to pull the door sill, the foot-rest and this lower dash bolt for the switch panel to snap off. Granted all those posts are on older models with completely different interiors. Question is does this pop off or should I get more leverage on it? I've already scratched and marred it with a screwdriver (only noticable to me) and don't want to do more damage.

    Ceiling console mounted

It was PITA after i drilled, I found that there were molded plastic supports where i drilled. So it took me an hour of melting plastic to make it work... But it did. Note: i dont think that plate pops out, or at least i couldnt

Nice placement. Wish there was a blank in that location so it would be easier.

How much of an issue was it to remove the whole panel?

    Thanks

So forany wiring gurus, I could use some help. I've done this mod for my home garage door opener. We now have an electric gate at work that uses a similar opener. Can I wire two openers from one switch without catching anything on fire? If so how? Or is there an easier way? Thank you.

Edit: I did this and it seems to work. Should I keep the fire extinguisher handy?

as long as you've wired in parallel and not in series, you should be fine

How would I find out which way I wired it? I figured it's all pretty cheap to fix so I put both batteries in and it worked no problem. Does that mean I got lucky and they're in parallel?

Edit: I tested with a multi meter and the brown wire with the blue lead goes to both remotes positives, then the brown wire with the green lead goes to both remotes negatives. I looked around on Google and it looks like that is in parallel. Would that be correct?

Yes, the way you had it in the photo is in parallel, that’s the nice thing about electronics and electrical. Generally they will let you know right away whether you’re right or wrong, LOL ( with the exception of softly overloading a wire or breaker,

Awesome news! Yea I figured if something was going to go wrong it would've with me testing it on my concrete garage floor haha. I just tested it with both batteries in and held the switch for about a minute. No sparks and no wires got hot so that's awesome. Thank you so much for your help!

No problem, obviously you understand you’re activating both remotes at the same exact time

Oh definitely. It's about a 15 minute drive to work so unless the planets are aligned in the perfect configuration and the earth is on just the right axis, they should never both activate haha
