I’ve found that when off roading whenever I get to too deep of snow or too steep of a rock to crawl over rather than spinning out with loss of traction none of my wheels spin.

this occurs in 4wd (hi and lo) with traction control off. I have upgraded to 32in tires and I have not yet regeared the diffs so I’m not sure if that’s the problem but my main question is is it possible that my engine just doesn’t have enough torque to spin anything? I know the i4 is small and not very powerful but it seems to me that if the drive shaft is spinning and thetransfer case is engaging properly at least one wheel should be spinning out.

I’m also not able to get the rpms past 2-3000 when stuck, so is this a problem with my engine not being powerful enough or do I have a wheel hub or something that is spinning and not engaging the wheel so nothing spins at all?

    Still thinking about it.
Hi. I'm going to assume that you have an automatic trans. With stock gears and tall tires, yes, you are correct. That 2-3k rpm is spinning the torque converter and nothing else. Just my guess..

So would regearing help? Or buying a new truck with bigger engine and manual transmission be the only good fix

Interesting. How long has this been happening? Automatic or manual? How many miles? My WAG, something is slipping.

have you tried holding down the traction control button? there are several different modes. your truck has plenty of power to spin the tires in snow. I think traction control is limiting the torque to your wheels.

I’ve only noticed it since I upped tire size. It’s an automatic with 175k miles
