some quick changes to help with lighting and storage. The plan is an 80/20 build out at some point but for now I need some order for the chaos in the bed. Going through what to keep or not keep for some upcoming trips.

some quick LEDs for the tent.

Along with the tent I wired up the old LED strips I had in the last setup. Added a switch in the corner. Gives it a spaceship like feel.

Picked up some bags from SuperPacific that are made for the X1 setup. I debated but they are pretty nice and well made in the same material as the tent.

Finally ditched the trasharoo that was past its last leg and held together by duct tape and luck. Picked up the @BlueRidgeOverlandGear XL bag. The straps did not make it (BROG is quick to send out some) but won’t make it in time so rigged up some straps on their suggestion. This thing is not going anywhere.

My son got his first Toyota for Christmas. He already has an 18V Milwaukee mod ready to be installed.

Dad on the other hand is waiting for parts. need to post up some recap of our thanksgiving Baja trip. Truck made it back but not all in one piece. Grenades rear ended again and while disassembling found I had a rear shoe not adjusted right and it wore down the pad and cracked the rotor.

Rear end left the building in Mexico. Pulled the driveshaft and attempted to cross back a few days later. Drove the truck around 1000 miles in front wheel drive. One expensive Corrola as we Joked.

damage this time was not as bad as last time.

The new 3rd is back in. Swapped in a new rotor and e brake drum pads (e brake is still useless). Finished up with an oil change and repainted my Jd fab front skid and rear BAMF diff skid.

not listed but went to get a smog test and it as directed to a Star smog. (I never received my reg in the mail but looks like I got a random selection. Thanks California.

Lots of stuff pending but truck is drivable. Starting to knock off some random projects. I will be diving deep into new electrical and rear build out in the near future. Todays update is 2010 4Runner mirror swap with heated mirrors and sequential turn signals. The heated harness and timer is TBD but it’s ready to go.

    Some threads that helped
    4Runner Swap

Will link to page that generated idea (need to track down the link)

    Parts:
I pulled these apart last year or maybe even 2 years ago so I do not have the other photos but here shows the OEM Tacoma mirror arms installed insight of the 4runner mirrors. I was going to also install the KTJO folding mirrors but I could not get the mirrors to fit in any housing and I tried several. Tacoma, 4runner etc. They would not fit. Waiting on a response but so far the kit wont work. See the 4runner thread above for photos of the swap

    Wiring:

    Connections

There are various ways people wire these up. Some use the 4runner connector, some use factory plus other connections. I swapped out my Tacoma internals and kept the factory connector for the mirrors. Sport models with existing blinkers would want to adapt to use the OEM in this case. For myself and not having I moved all of the new connections to a 6 position Deutsch connector. Solid connector and gives it an OEM feel and leaves it nice and organized.

I picked up a Deutsch connector kit with crimper and a pair of diff connectors. I decided to use a 6 pin but debated on separate connections. The 6 ping worked out well.
    6 Pin Deutsch connectors

    Puddle Lights

You will need to make a harness to connect the blinks, puddle lights and heated mirrors. The VLED floor well kit makes its super easy to add the puddle lights. All you need is a splitter off the harness and extensions.

2 x 4 foot extensions Get 8 if you want more but 4 worked for me.
1 x 3 way connector forward thought if you add a 5 way you could use it with a rock light kit/switch setup. Considering a way to tackle that.

    Blinkers:
As of now there are no plug and play kits (yet) but below are the wires in which you can tap. Positions 4 and 11 are your go to. Tap and run the wire to your mirrors.

    58F459A2-D74D-45CC-AB10-6DEB87CBF78F.jpg

I added some sequential blinkers that Cartrim had me try out. I was not going to leave them in but they grew on me.

The blinkers did not have any foam that the stock ones have but so far it has not been an issue. they are fragile so do not tighten too tight. Once you put the cap back on it holds them in solid.

Hopefully will have some updating soon. The truck was mostly sitting in 2023 once I found out the Axle may be bent and confirmed it was bent. Found out that it is bent 5 Degrees or 2.5 per side. The driver's side looked a lot worse.

Since this has become the "DIFF" year time for another regear.

Officially on order now: Diamond Tundra 10.5 Housing with Diff in 4.88 and an ARB locker. Since my truck takes 4.56 time to regear the front again to 4.88, I will also swap to an ARB locker from my current Harrop E-Locker.

Once the Rear Axle and Front Diff are here will finally be swapping in my Tundra steering rack, possibly solid tie rods. The jury is out if I go Heim inners or not.

I will also box my frame and review the limit straps again on the rear. (We missed it last time).

It will be super nice when it's done but going to be a heavy stint of mods on the truck.

I got the Front Diff ordered, and it will be built using a donor diff from @Naveronski, fresh new bearings, solid busing, etc, and ARB Locker in 4.88. It will be nice and fresh when it arrives.

Nice! Gotta love the service! I am hoping my new rear axle will never need it again. Hopefully Diamond finishes it up by end of the month. Truck should be near bullet proof by end of next month.

def its been on my list to do at some point but it was one of those if its working ill be rallying it. The truck had other plans. If you do go this route and plan for a tundra rear, you will need to regear the front again (i think your 4.56 but maybe you had 4.88) as it's not offered in the Tundra. I went Tundra as its fairs better with lockers. the ford 9's have 4.56 but tend to not like the lockers as much. Great for pre-running not as good in other areas.

Also tossing in a @Basikbiker Tundra rack and JD Fab TC Howe Steering Kit along with the 4.88 gearing, ARB lockers front/rear and Diamond Tundra rear.

Debating on solid tie rods or not. Luckily pieced a lot of this stuff over the past year but haven't gotten around to installing.
