Has anyone tried installing an OEM power tailgate lock on their 2016-2019? It's an optional add-on for the 2020 models but I was curious to find out if it would work as a plug and play retrofit for my 2018 or if i'd have to splice into the harness to install.

I'm also curious to see if anyone knows where to buy? I haven't seen it on any Toyota parts websites as of yet.

If the OEM version works I'd prefer that over the Pop & Lock or any other aftermarket kits.

I believe the OEM version is just a rebranded Pop and Lock with a markup.

I ordered one today over a Pop n Lock because there were others that said it was a legit plug and play and the lock wasn't as loud. About 50% more, but that's ok.

I just put the OEM one in my tundra. It’s super quiet and a really nice kit. I assume the Tacoma is similar

Good to hear, looking forward to it arriving sometime this month. Just have to keep the tailgate locked until then.

I just installed the lock on my Tacoma and it is ridiculously easy. The parts are high quality and everything fits right. I Really like having it locked all the time.

I bought the lock and bed lights from Sparks parts. They we’re very fast, shipped quickly no drama.
I really like the tailgate locked ALL the time, should be factory equipped.

did this work out for you? I’m wanting to do the same thing to my 2018 TRD Sport. I’m willing to be the guinea pig if I have to be, but if I don’t have to be, was curious if it worked for you?

Just installed the kit on my 18’ plug and play and it’s fused protected where the other kits are not. Picked it up from my dealer $125.00. Also very quiet
