It was only half an hour I was impatient.

Funny but I did check it after an hour and nothing.
I checked it often and got nothing for the first 150 miles.
Seems running the interstate produces more than our 50mph secondary roads?
Because I’ve done a lot of interstate driving at 65mph,,,,,,,
And collected this in the last 150 miles.
So this is what I’ve gotten in the last 300 miles.
My truck also has 177k so I may have ring or valve seals that are weak.
No regerts here this isn’t going into the combustion chamber now.
Looking at how I could winterize this?

I can understand the concern. It took me a couple oil changes to get the feel for it. Now I run 6-7K and end up with about a third to half a can. I do pop the hood regularly and make sure everything is where it's supposed to be. There was one post/incident/story where the can backed off and made a hell of a mess.

I will keep an eye on it!
Easy and cheap I remember my old gems just venting instead of going back thru the intake and combustion chamber!

Why delete it for winter, are you concerned about it freezing?

I run the same catch can and I've had mine on since Sept 2014, it was my first mod at 914 miles! I have just under 80k right now. (I keep very detailed records, I've got a massive spreadsheet for everything)

I dump it once a week, usually only a tablespoon or so (typically I get gas once a week so I figure a tablespoon or so every 250 miles), and have never seen anything frozen even during very cold periods where we see highs in the teens.

The most unsettling thing (at first) you'll see during cold weather is a milkshake in the catch can.

Keep in mind, most everything will settle in the can, if it does happen to freeze, its in the bottom of the can.

Your location is going to get a lot more heat than my location on the drivers side fender. The ice, if any, won't last long.

Maybe where I dump once a week I'm not giving things long enough to separate into straight water, I've had a lot of milkshake during cold weather, but never anything separated or freezing.

One thing is for sure, I'll never have another vehicle without one. When I got my Subaru BRZ a catch can was my first mod there too. After a hard run it'll make at least a tablespoon.

Yes I was worried about it freezing.
We see below 0 temps pretty often in the winters.

Give it a try first and see what happens. We had -22 one morning a few years ago with most of the week never making it above the teens. I never looked to see if it was frozen but I never had any issues. I know it wasn't frozen on the Saturday I dumped the can. It was no -22 but below freezing.

I figure anything up in the condensation portion of the can has dripped into the bottom before anything can really freeze. It will take a while to cool the engine bay after turning off giving everything time to settle while still warm. I don't know if there is a chance to create an ice ball at the condensation portion during startup before things get hot. Water is going to be the first thing to start flashing off, but I figure it's warm enough by then and the holes are large enough to not cause a blockage.

Love your trucks color, I would have got that if it were available in 2015!

    I’ll see how it does,
I’ll keep an eye on it when it turns cold out.
Do you have any steel wool or something in the baffle part.
Seems that may freeze I guess.
I’m happy I did it really don’t want to remove it seeing it’s getting oil.

Thanks I like the mgm also.

Remove when it’s cold outside... I’m not throwing stones because I don’t live where it’s that cold. I would never have even thought about that. I have a house in the mountains of CO and I wouldn’t remove it. I think it will be fine.

I do have some copper wool in the baffle. I wanted something that wasn't going to rust. I change it every so often because it starts to get carboned up. Once I didn't have any more of the copper wool available and thought it'd be a good idea to clean the ball with brake cleaner. Chlorinated brake cleaner and copper reacted and it corroded immediately. I removed it until I got some more copper wool. I've also found that a lot of the copper wool is actually a steel wool that is copper coated.

Yea I’m just paranoid I guess.
Seen some bad shit from frozen pcv a guys gem at work had it happen.
Stock equinox at that not saying it’s the North Pole here but this winter we had over a week highs single digits.

Yea I added some stainless wool also.
I’ll do like you have done and empty it often.
Wish I’d done this along time ago.

Well don't sniff it. It's doing it's job. Emptied mine on Saturday. Every oil change it's about 3/4 full.
