What coils should I get in the front on my truck? I'd like max lift, and plan on getting an ARB with a winch.

Also, I plan to run a rear bumper too. Should I consider the Dakar AAL?

Alright so I'm starting to look at Dakars for my rear right now. I've already got a greasable pin/bushing set running in my stock leafs (Had to press out stock bushings) and I am running the 1.25" Daystar shackle. Can I re-use those bushings? From what I am reading this combo with regular Dakars should be enough to get a good 2.5"-3" right? I've got a decent amount of weight in the rear with the spare and CO2 setup and my heavy ass tube bumper. I plan on hauling my bike every once in a while so I know when I do I will probably squat a bit but for daily use i should be a little ass high I hope.

This is the current setup on stock leaves and 1.25" shackle.

Front setup is 5100's with Eibach 625's.

@cynicalrider here's my truck on 33's with the Dakar springs and stock shackles. Bed is empty, no tailgate and a relatively light tube bumper.

Front is 880s, with a3/4in spacer.

It's definately rear end high. I can get measurements from hub to fender later is you want

No need for measurements, that's exactly the look I want. Seems like a ton of people went Dakars and straight to AAL in it and it's good to know I won't need it. I figure if I ever make a bed rack/rtt I will probably need it then but for now I should be good.

Ive actually thought about taking a leaf out because i don't carry a ton of stuff but haven't because i like the way it handles. I took the sway bar off so the rear is compensating for how "loose " the front is

I've got Dakars in the rear on stock shackles w/o AAL and have a toolbox, 20lb CO2, spare 35 on steel wheel, softopper, hitch receiver, and still have rake:) I purchased the AALs when I initially bought the lift (as I plan to do a high clearance swing out), but still have yet to use them. I think unless you plan to go plate in the rear, you should be fine w/o the extra leafs for the time being. If you're hauling your bike A TON I'd suggest going with a different spring pack all together, though.

    Good to know.

And I only plan on hauling it once or twice a week, and usually very locally.

Interesting. So 33s and and 880 at the front... Means not too high. Did you manage to trim and mod enough to clear the rubbing at the front?

No rubbing on the fender or wheel well, i havent flexed it out yet though. They do rub on the frame at full lock though. I shouldve gone with a skinnier tire.

He did mention having spacers with the 880's so keep that in mind...

Its definately going to clear the fenders, tires stuff well there. Pinch weld was beaten back well too should be ok. I'm really only worried about it rubbing the frame at full stuff when I'm turning. Might need to add (small) wheel spacers.

I cut a large portion of it out. I havent actually taken it out on a trail though so you're probably right.

I'm not embarrassed if it rubs or anything, i put on tires that were a little larger than i intended but i got a good deal on them so I'm gonna have to deal with it.

They look good enough for the mall which is all that really matters anyway :p

@bry838 The wheels I bought have more backspacing. I don't expect to rub on the frame, but on the bottom edges of the wheel wells at full lock. We shall see. I have 881, 16x8 3.5" BP and 285/75R16 - I just have to mount them and start trimming.

Yeah i run 3.5bs with 12.50's and frame rub is non existant. The pinch weld area however is a different story...

I just got my OME setup installed. Definitely learned a lot for next time.

Here's a few I took just after. Sitting at 2" in the front w 881 and 7" in the rear w CS019R (but probably really 4"-5" because my old sprigs were sagging like woah)

I haven't installed my energy suspension bump stops yet. I'm planning to mount them to the frame above the leafs like some of you have mentioned a few pages back. I was about to do that yesterday but my drill wouldn't fit between the leaf springs and the frame. Guess I should've before I installed the leafs?!

Am I going to need an angle drill?

Stuff and things that make it better.
@jjsul if you jack up the rear your leafs will be extended enough that your drill will fit between no problem

I'll add these for the record. 2002 V6 with a full time topper, sitting on 265/70/r16 Toyo ATIIs.

Took off stock suspension with 150k on it. Well overdue upgrade. Installed Nitrocharger sports on all corners, 881 springs, 5mm trim packer on the drivers side front, CS046R Dakar leaf packs, OME greasable shackles, extended rear brake line, exhaust hanger, and BPV relocator plate.

    Before:

    IMAG2714.jpg

    After:

    IMAG2923.jpg

Now I'm trying not to spend more money on my truck for a little while. I'll probably upgrade to 265/75/R16s at some point. Funny thing is that my old stock suspension was so blown, that my stock size 265/70/r16 tires were rubbing the frame up front. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Made me much less weary about going up a size.

Either way, I'm currently very happy with the setup. It is still breaking in, and getting better by the day. This thread was invaluable in helping me decide on what to get. Thanks!!

That is a great looking set-up. My PreRunner is at 140,000 and suspension is shot. Rear stock 3-leaf pack has serious axel wrap and I will look at the CS046R Dakar leaf packs ... thanks !
