Is there a way to add the OEM inverter button function to a switch panel? I am assuming it's not as simple as finding +/- wire and extending to the controller. OEM switch has 5 wires. Ignoring the 120/400 aspect, I'd just like to turn on/off outlet with existing switch panel rather than relocate button or find another place to mount it. May as well just tag @3JOH22A

Talk to @Shveet if you haven't already- he's pretty good with the electrical stuff. However, my personal recommendation is spend a few extra bucks and replace the inverter with a better one.

Yeah, it's not so much about needing more - it does what I need it to do and the location works. If I can't integrate it, I'll just hide it somewhere else and run a second inverter elsewhere if I need to

You'll need to do this to force it to run 400w at all times.
Appears one wire is for sensing speed, one is for sensing gear, and a hot, neutral and a ... not sure

This thread also has a ton of info on the wiring for the inverter.

That's about the extent of what I know lol

It's likely just a momentary switch if you can buzz out with a meter which two wires are the switch. The other 3 will be for the lights. Online service manual will have the wire colours too.

I'd bet 1 pos for 400/100, then a neutral, and a shift sensor and a speed sensor. Only way to find out is to cut and hope LOL

Those wires are at the inverter end. There's 8 wires on that side. And you better believe they're not the same colour as what's at the button end!

I've used the AC outlet exactly 0 times in my two trucks over the past 14 years, and I don't have the wiring diagram manual for 3rd gens. However, the FSM has a switch test page, attached. If you just want to wire a button or rocker switch and don't care about the indicator light, closing or opening pin 3 to pin 6 turns the inverter on or off, respectively.

    17!

I'm just looking to move the on/off function to a 8-gang switch module. the above FSM doesn't really help me in terms of understanding what needs to be done... Which kinda leads me down the path of not doing it.

Looks like the green wire is the signal to the inverter. You could tap that and the black wire and run in parallel to another switch. The button is a momentary switch so you may need a double press on the switch panel if it's only on/off every press.

Buy the look of it pin 6 and 3 to your new switch and ground pin 2 to active the inverter relay. But it will only work with the key turn on. Also you can run pin 3 to your relay box and use what ever switch fused power you have there but you will still need to ground pin 2 for the inverter relay. You also could re route pin 2 on the inverter relay to your switch box and use a 12v/fused hot to a switch so you can use the inverter with the key off but if you forget to de press the switch you could kill your battery.

Makes more sense than the Navier-Stokes differential equations they teach you in school?
