I have heard that some 4cyl owners use oil filters from a v6 or v8 Tacoma/ tundra because they are longer, ..are any of you guys? If so , what's the part number? Thanks

Yeah, it is fine for me too. A while back I was reading on this and I couldn't find it a sec ago. Something about it being the same price for more filtration because the filter was taller. I'll ask Toyota Saturday..I'm going to buy a box of OEM filters

Both the 90915-YZZD1 and the 90915-YZZD3 are listed for the 05+ 4cyl (2TR-FE). A few months ago when I bought my last oil filter from my local dealer they gave me the YZZD1. Yesterday, I went to buy another filter at the same dealer and they gave me a YZZD3. As mentioned, the YZZD3 is a larger filter, and I feel better running the larger filter at 5K oil change intervals.

2012 2.7L Tacoma Prerunner. I use a PL 20195 oil filter. A mid-line Purolator One oil filter good for 10,000 miles... I will change it before then. I had to remove 12mm bolt holding center brake line clamp for it to fit.
    I am so glad I did this.20200614_160100.jpg

we all know ' Size Matters ' !!!

anyone know the ' micron filter spec '
    bypass psi matters

the oil at 10300 wasnt dirty
    hadnt started to darken

    yet

may have been filtering metal shavings from break in all along

so if anyone has the specs moreso than just the size

The filter for 2003 Mustang V6 and 1989 Aerostar V6 have the same threads, base gasket and bypass pressure as the spec'd filter for my 2006 2.7 but the can is about 1 inch longer. (I don't have the specs handy but I did the research and found the only difference is the length of the canister and amount of filter media.) Currently I'm running Motorcraft FL400S and WIX 51516. These are equivalent (in size) to the PL20195 above, but the PL is a high-end filter where the Motorcraft and WIX are considered standard replacement... high quality filters, but standard equipment category.
