Passenger Side Interior Buzzing

I've had this buzzing sound coming from the kick panel and door stil area from about 6 months and it's driving me crazy. I have tried several ways to insulate the areas that I thought that might be giving me a plastic on plastic buzz, without succuss. Has anyone else had this issue and what was your fix?

It's neither the speaker or the blower motor. You only hear it under light acceleration.

 

are you sure it's not the blower motor? any time i've heard someone complain about a noise on the passenger side, that's the culprit.

i have the same noise, i just assumed it was the blower motor. i haven't gotten under there to check it out.

 

I've turned off the A/C unit and I still hear it.

 

Sure it's not behind the glovebox ?

Instrument Panel Rattle Below Glove Box (T-SB-0106-10)
Some 2005 – 2009 model year Tacoma vehicles may exhibit an instrument panel rattle or tick noise below the glove box area. The faint noise is most evident when accelerating slowly between the 1000 – 1600 RPM range. The rattle has been found to be coming from a wire harness cover coming into contact with the HVAC bracket.

 

Any idea how to fix?

 

This noise drove me absolutely insane. It does it at the low rpm needed to drive economically.

I copied the TSB fix. It essentially tensions up the harness so it can't rattle in its plastic firewall grommet. You'll need adhesive dense rubber foam (I stacked 2 layers each 3/8" thick) and put it between the main harness and the metal bracket where it passes closest to it down by the blower motor.

Been quiet as a mouse ever since.

Well thanks to you guys I found what the actual buzzing I had was coming from. Now knowing what I was looking for I was able to search for it on here and locate the issue. Used several pieces of electrical tape, I compressed the loom onto the wires tightly and then zip tied it to another wire loom. Overkill... Maybe. Fixed... Should be. I'll found out later when I go to work this evening. Thanks.

 

Didn't work. I'll have my gf sit and ride with me and see if she can pin point the buzz and go from there. I'll let you know what I find.

 

The wire harness rattle is difficult to find and fix because the source of the rattle isn't actually down by the blower motor. It's the plastic hole in the firewall two feet up the loom towards the engine. That's why just tying it to another point usually doesn't work; it needs to have a little tension put into it. That's what the foam does, it pushes it down unnaturally and it pulls against the firewall a bit.

If you want to verify it is the rattle I speak of, have her give it a tug when it's doing it. Thankfully it doesn't take a lot of acceleration to start the noise if indeed it is the same problem in your truck.

To be honest I probably killed every other rattle looking for this one. I used about sixty square inches of adhesive felt on every joint of two pieces of plastic all through the dash trying to find this dumb noise.

 

I think I have fixed the issue. I looked up all the other ways everyone else was fixing the issue, and I went in and ended up placing about 7-8 zip ties on several wire looms. On the way to and back form work today, I didnt hear one buzz. I hope it stays like that.
