Not really worthy of the title build, but I have enough piddly stuff I figured I would list it here just incase some bored soul wants to know, or give advice.

This is a daily driver that sees use for travel, camping, and hunting in Alaska with some excursions to Canada and the Lower 48. It is a TRD Off Road with minimal options.

    • SSO slimline bumper, on hand, needs to be painted and installed)
    • Come Up winch (on hand)
    • Want HDHQ sliders
    • Want gas tank skid
    • Want to replace engine and transmission skid plates
    • Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro SEA fogs in yellow
    • Meso Stage 1 Total Tail (minus LED bulbs due to not working in cold, below negative 5 F).
    • Meso white/red dome and map lights
    • Philips H9 bulbs in low beams
    • 27F AGM battery
    • Redarc Tow Pro Elite
    • Need to install Mil Spec terminals
    • Need to install Katz Block heater
    • Need to install Anytime backup camera and front camera
    • Want Diode Dynamics SS3 SEA Aux driving lights wired to come on with high beams
    • Meso Red 4x4 knob ring, and MGM vent rings
    • Black bumper caps (one of the chrome ones broke and black was cheaper, plus looks better)
    • Removed V6 and Tacoma emblems, removed TRD stickers
    • Need to install reflective, black vinyl "TACOMA" letters for tailgate

I too am worthless.... Wait this is not my therapy appointment. Hello, my name is Marbles and I'm a.... @$*% not that one either.

My wife complains about how few pictures I take too.

3 days old and 2000 miles added to the odometer.

And my unmatched chrome removal to irritate other people's OCD.

The outer two chrome vent rings would cast a reflection on the side windows that was visually centered in the sideview mirror and they had to go. I may replace the center vent ring, but left them for now.

I wanted the 4x4 knob to pop out more, so it got the red ring. This will most likely be the only bright color I add to the truck.

I realized my torques bits only go up to T45, so I headed to the store.
    20211213_172841.jpg

Found it was easier to put the hardware on the bolt rather than try to drop it in and line everything up.20211213_180053.jpg

    Finished up.
    20211213_185427.jpg

But not without a reminder of what a dumb ape I am. I really need to get a torque wrent to bridge the gap between 135 in lbs and 40 ft lbs.

That fire extinguisher mounts is interesting. Do you never notice it by your feet?

Not in a way that matters. On long drives I will move my left foot up against the seat for a change of position, however I have enough space to still do this. I would say I know it is there, but I don't really notice it. In the past week I have driven about 18 hours and never found it to be annoying.

Now for oversharing, feel free to skip. :argue:

I will say that if I was much shorter it would be an issue as the seat movement is limited by the large quick drop fire extinguisher mount. I think the small mount would clear (but I'm guessing). Lucky for me, my wife is not short (I'm 5'10" for reference).

One could always mount it behind the driver's or passenger's seat (I think this would be very annoying for anyone ridding in the back), or in front of the passenger's seat. My primary reason for putting it in front of the drivers seat is that I sometime put things in the other locations that would impede access to the extinguisher.

The nozzle is pushed up against the transmission hump and decently protected from abuse, though not completely. I faced it down for two reasons, one is to keep dirt out of it, the other is to limit the horrific mess it would make if inadvertently set off (not sure how much it would help, and not going to test it to find out). One down side of dry chemical extinguishers is that the retardant is highly corrosive. I'm not aware of a good alternative that covers class A, B, and C fires though.

I appreciate that write up! Thank you. And that is a good note about impeding access, I think I'd be in the same boat. Seems like a nice, no-nonsense place to put it and it is even easier to access than a lot of other places. I don't think there is a good alternative. At the end of the day, from my understanding, unless you are bringing a halogen extinguisher this is mostly to put out external fires, you are SOL for any vehicle fire

On the DD SS3 Pro fogs. I find that for clear conditions they limit the range of my view. Too much light up close results in constructed pupils and inability to use the dim light coming back from further out. However, after driving several hours on the Denali Highway with moderate to heavy snow fall, they are worth their weight in gold.

Of course this is not anything new, just confirming information that has been stated on various threads already.

Blue Ridge Overland Gear Tacoma Attic and Meso hexrack. The two work together nicely.

Hardly could be considered a mod, but I replaced the stock Osram low beam bulbs with H9 Philips bulbs and the difference is huge. With the stock bulbs, if driving on a street with street lights, I could never tell if my headlights were on. That is no longer the case. At some point I will upgrade with wiring using the harness sold by Rally Lights.

I had been thinking about a HID retrofit, however I'm not going to continue thinking about it now. I know RX350 projectors would still be better, but I don't feel it is needed now.

Got the Off Grid Engineering battery tray prepped for the winch install. The breaker will also by my winch disconnect. Debating if I want to run a 12 inch cable around the side of the battery or a 21 inch cable under the batter to connect the breaker to the positive terminal.

Planning on using a 1/0 AWG cable either way. The cables supplied with the winch ar 2 AWG, so figure any additional length should be larger than that.

    Well, ordered this today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/265213969586
    s-l1600.jpg

I really wanted a Raceseng Slammer, but had a hard time justifying the cost considering that a solid metal shift knob will be cold as hell for more than 6 months of the year.
