Ok I found the spec sheet for my truck, says the tires are P265/65R17 on 17" alloy rims. So I need to be looking at 285 and 33 then I take it. Ive seen duratracks mentioned alot, are those the favored 285 option for the taco?

Anyone have pics of 33's on the 17" sport rims so I can see what those look like? (will 33's fit on those rims?)

I think I would be good at 3", ive seen that prices go up alot past that point and that other issues arise also that id rather not have to deal with.

Just out of curiosity, how much would option 3 run?

Tire preferences are a whole new thread lol, popular on the site include duratracs (have them and love them), nitto terra grapplers, bfg at, hankook atms and many many more.....

also heres a comparison of a 33x12.5x17 to my 285's
    [IMG]
(the grey truck SMKYTXN is running the ome lift to IIRC)

As for option 3 im guessing your talking about my earlier post on lifts? Well for just the front between coilovers and uca's your looking at about 1600 bucks then you still have to do the rear

Looks good sir! Is that about a 3" lift on it? Looking over your build thread now.

So should I be making new threads in the relevant garage category subforums then BTT? The 285s look pretty good, 33 might be bit big mabye.

edit: missed thing at the bottom. 1.6k just for the front huh wow. I will definately be sticking with option 2 in that case.

Any guess about how much im looking at for tire cost?

Are you talking about for tires? Just use the search for those there a literally hundreds of threads discussing tires and pro's and con's of each no real need to start another thread...

You said most or your driving will be on road so i would suggest a good All terrain tire unless you just want the look and aggressiveness of a MT tire

Check tirerack.com or discounttire.com etc normally there prices are cheaper but get you on shipping. Also check out your local tire shop and maybe get lucky or jump on craigslist and try your luck there.....

I kinda want the look and agressiveness to be honest.

I agree and would love them as well just remember they cost more generally. Are heavier dropping mpgs more (if you care :notsure:) and normally wear down faster then an AT tire...

But they also look so badass :D

As posted earlier, BulletToothTony summed up your general lift option.
There are a number of Wheel/Tire Calculators, a few posted below.
Your 17" Sport Tires are approximately 30" (diam.) Tires.
Play around with the calculators a bit, might help you follow what's being posted.
I like the "Rims & Tires" Calc, as it covers backspacing as well.

I do indeed already have a scooped hood, and I love it to bits. :D

Ill check out those tire links and calculators, thanks. How much faster would they wear down you think? I commute like 4 miles to work and dont do a ton of highway 55+ mph driving but I prolly have to have them anway just for the look tho.

Tru Knight I don't know why no one has mentioned a spindle lift to you. Most of the guys are 4x4 but you being a 4x2 gives you that great alternative. Check out the Max Trac thread.
    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/suspension/203889-maxtrac-spindle-lift-2nd-gen-prerunners.html
Basically you can get a lift that keeps your stock suspension in the front for a very reasonable price. I had a PreRunner and would have gone that route if I hadn't wanted 4 wheel drive so much. I think the kit (Spindle and extended brake lines) is around $500 + a 3" leaf pack in the rear with longer shocks extended brake lines and a u bolt flip kit and your under a grand.
My vote on tires go to the 285/75/17 KM2's and spend $10 from BAMF for the cab mount chop brackets.

Ive come across that in my research, that if I want to run 285's on my sport rims I will need to use a spacer (what size?) and do some cutting on the plastic wheel well mudguards as well as remove the front mudflaps. Im still reading about that, but its not clear to me where I would be cutting and with what tool I would even need for that. Anyone have some clear pics in this area? I really dont want to rub my tires if I can help it.

In my tire research, im looking at either the BFG All Terrrain T/A KO or the Goodyear Wrangler Dura Tracs. Leaning towards the bfg but havent decided yet, still reading.

Im fairly certin I will choose option 2, the OME complete lift package. Tho ive read that some people describe a 'floating' feeling in the steering after a lift, and I dont like the sound of that at all. Will the aftermarket UCA's remedy that? I could use some more info about that from someone that has xp.
