Ok so this is a pic of my 2007 taco v6 standing right at the front looking straight down in on the pulleys. The small pulley wheel in the middle of the pic you can grab it and feel play in it now. I'm getting this kind of rattle grind noise on idle now and I think it is the culprit. This is one of the idler pulleys? The small one in the middle of this pic. Can I get just a bearing and replace it? If so where can I get one? And how do you go about taking the belt tension off? The pulleys are left handed threads right? Any help would be greatly appreciated

yes the small pulley looks to be the tensioner pulley in your picture, most times they replace the whole tensioner arm with pulley, but if you just got a bad pulley bearing might be easier to do just the Pulley, seems that replacing the pulley might be the best option, I would use an OEM.

Ok thanks for the help I got an idler pulley on the way it will be here tomorrow. Now to get the belt off I take it the tensioner is right in the center of them I haven't looked at it yet but is it pretty easy to loosen the tension?

    OME and worth every penny.
    It's not left hand thread.

You CAN knock out bearings and just replace them. Motion should have them. Koyos prob. but any name brand is good. No name, no good.

Any part #'s for the bearings with a v6? Do both idlers take the same bearings

I quite probably am mistaken then. Carry on.

That's not a great idea to just go throwing that stuff out there once in while. Ford Courier trucks had LH thread lugs on pass. side. Most people broke a few. Well, I did anyway.

Can anyone tell me how to remove belt tension. I know the tensioner but how does it work. Putting a ratchet on it and rotating it clockwise doesnt work

Update got the belt off and new idler pulley off and the sound still remains...it only makes the sound on idle and the sound appears to be around the ac compressor. Sounds like a higher pitched bearing growl. It goes away immediately if you increase rpms. Could this be the water pump? Any advice would be appreciated. I'll try and post a video

Yes I spun the pulleys that would move and the idlers had a bit of play but were quiet. Alternators ever make a growl? I cant post a video for some reason

Update if I turn up the radio the noise goes away! Getting pretty frustrated now so I'll just give it time to either fix itself or get louder and easier to locate!

If its a 2007 then replace all 3 idlers and the tensioner. Then on to possible alternator or AC compressor. Flush the PS pump/rack as detailed on other posts.
