Loaded 18 TRD offroad with 32s manual, tent, and about 500-800 lbs of gear/ armor and get about 15-18 mpg depending on how many mountains i climb

Yesterday I drove my 2019 4x4 ORDC from IL to Atlanta. Only "mod" is a diamondback cover

    Tank 1 - 20.3 MPG at 75mph
    Tank 2 - 19.6 MPG from 78-80

One thing I have noticed is the fuel mileage sucks in stop and go situations. But highway averages aren't bad for what it is.

I don’t like the MPG on my Tacoma either.

But writing how bad it is is like complaining about the styling of Prius or the price of a Mercedes: we know full well what it is going in; complaining afterwards changes nothing.

If fuel efficiency is that important, perhaps it should have had a higher priority on your buying criteria.

In my experience switching from the mini van tires to a slightly larger but noticeably heavier LT tire knocked of at minimum 2 mpg for me if I ventured towards 70 mph it was more like 3 mpg.

Agreed. The Tacoma does not like stop and go at all! And it doesn't like low detergent fuel in my case. I live in Cincinnati and have found I get worse mileage if I fill up at Speedway, Kroger, UDF, etc...I'm lucky to average 19 mpg per week at those places, but if I fill up at shell I can easily get an avg of 22 mpg per week with the exact same driving style and routes. My truck really seems to like those high detergent level Shell fuels.

I'm impressed with your mpg at those speeds. Last time I went on a roadtrip and averaged in the mid 70s I was lucky to get 18.5 mpg on the highway. I always get my best mpg keeping it at 65 or less.

I really want more aggressive tires but this always gives me pause. I really like getting my avg 21 to 22 mpg currently. I don't go offroad really and have even debated looking for different tires to improve mpg. I'm a rare bird here at Tacomaworld.

Go with Falken Wildpeaks, they look great and any loss in MPG is extremely minimal.

‘18 DCSB 2WD, all stock. Not even a tonneau cover and this is what I usually see while cruising 70-75mph on the highway, no hills. Around town, doing stop and go it drops to 19mpg average.

My drive to work today which involves going up and down a couple big hills at a constant 40 to 60 mph with very few traffic lights. This truck does really well if you can avoid stop and go. My avg at the end if the week is more like 21 mpg though as I tend to hit more traffic on the way home.

'19 Owners. Any improvement over the first few months. I've barely peaked over 17mpg an my odometer is about to roll over to 3000mi. the funny part with mine is that I went up to 33's and the mileage didn't seem to be affected.

Will do that for sure when it's time to replace my Goodyears. I always find it fascinating that virtually no one has bad things to say about the Falkens.

i just bought my taco named Sandy 2 weekends ago. i have driven it now on 2 good long road trips. first trip was about 120 miles each way and i averaged 20.5 on that roundtrip. I was driving with ect not on. meaning, not using ect. the 2nd long trip was this past weekend. drove 145 miles each way. Averaged 23.9 on the return home- 145 miles plus about 15 miles from the day before so 160 miles. That driving was all around 55-60 mph and the occasional 65 mph run for a minute or 2 and then a 45 mph run- breaking her in.

i have the tyger side steps- adds 78 pounds of weight, avs bug deflector II, and a tyger tonneau cover. Was just me in the truck mainly.

I am quite happy with this performance and i used ect pwr the whole time this weekend. I have stopped not using it.

did ect pwr being on actually help mpg somehow? doubtful as this weekend's trip was less stop and go compared to the previous weekend's trip.

Those who say these truck are slow, need to run it with ect pwr on and don't be scared to push the pedal down some. I did when needed- like stopped from a light- and it didn't hurt my mpgs as shown above. 23.9 rocks for this thing IMHO.

    LOL.
