    Hi Guys,

I recently purchased a 2015 TRD OR. The past few weeks I've noticed after long drives without stops, ie. highway driving. When I do come to a stop light where the truck is stationary for a while, it will bump/lunge...almost like it was hit from behind. The truck has 12K as well...

Has anyone else experienced something like this?

I'm afraid to take it back to the stealer and have them tell me they didn't find anything...

    How severe is the lunge?

Ever since I've had my 2015, I've noticed that when sitting at a stop light for any longer than about 10-15 seconds, the truck sort of "winds up" and lunges forward. It's not severe enough that it feels dangerous or that I would lose control, but it's noticeable enough that I have to apply more pressure to my brakes to counter it.

    Sound like the same deal?

It's like letting off the brake and pressing it down hard again.

That sounds exactly what I'm experiencing...it seems almost like it down shifts late and hard. I too press the brake hard because it feels as if the truck is moving

No defrost? The compressor is also on when system is on defrost.

The reason I ask is my truck often lunges while stopped when my compressor is on. Not terribly, but noticeably.

I do run the mix of floor and defroster, but the compressor isn't on on that setting...

I'm almost positive that both the defrost and defrost/floor settings engage the compressor. Maybe someone else can confirm.

in my 2015, I'm pretty sure my compressor kicks on on that setting. I too notice the "lunge" when at a stop light.

The AC light doesn't come on, nor does it blow ice cold air. I though I had read somewhere on here that full defrost as well as the coldest setting will turn on the AC, but not the floor/defrost mix.

That is interesting! I will have to take a look. Wouldn't I have worse mileage if the AC was kicking on...because the other day I accidentally had it on for a while and noticed a significant drop in my mileage...

    @gearcruncher

I have been having trans problems since early, main problem, after accelerating up to freeway speed, I ease up on the throttle, and it bangs into O/D.
I've complained since early on, finally got the fluid level checked and it was over 3/4 qt low on fluid!
Since then, I've had a master tech duplicate the experience, and he put the trans back in learn mode, but still experiencing the bang into O/D!
I have several cross country road trips, including 2 towing a trailer.
If the trans continues like this I will be requesting a new trans be installed.
I know this isn't the same issue as the OP, but let's see if any other '15s are experiencing trans issues!

Hope Gearcruncher doesn't mind, here's a note from a PM between us...

"4TH GEAR TO 5TH GEAR UPSHIFT . Reports at TRNI indicate the SLT solenoid has issues .
    http://www.moranbahweather.com/toyota/lc_trj12/rm/rm1151e/m_05_1113.pdf
The flash also fixes the clunk upshift to 5th gear http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/technical-chat/344879-tsb-0044-12-pinging-transmission-fix.html

I am sure you read this , but I thought I should pass it along"

If you have the heater controls on any of the defrost settings the AC compressor will cycle on and off . Most cars and trucks have this function. My 2014 Tacoma does this also.

Yeah, my mileage suffers when I'm running the AC or defrost as well. Not so bad on long highway trips, but definitely in stop-and-go traffic.

If you want to follow those steps to disable defrost AC, make sure you click on the "2009+" link at the top of the page. That write up is for <2008.

Good to know...I'll run with this off or on a different setting and see if I still get this bump. Thanks!

AC compressor by the sounds of it . My truck also does this .

Old School has an issue with his truck we are trying to figure out .
I am working on it . Running low on transmission fluid while towing will definitely cause issues .
