No, and I'll tell you why.

First, Relentless Fabrication already makes one of those, and I don't want to step on his toes.

Second, the issues I've had with my tailgate have all been with the cap. The rest of it seems fine.

Third, packaging and shipping the tailgate caps and bed brackets all the time is already enough work (in addition to my full time job). Dealing with a full size tailgate reinforcement is more than I need on my plate at the moment.

I don't see the gap being that much of an issue except for clearance using it with shell or bed cover. I wouldn't trust the plastic threads that the bolts screw into to use bungees or tie down straps with much tension tho or risk scratching up the tailgate using any non-coated hooks. The bike and other objects resting on it is different, not pulling up on it like tiedowns would. Cool alternative to the whole sheet replacement option although I would lean towards that if I had shell and did much crawling in and out of it. I will be going with one of these as soon as any issues with the oem cap. GLWS

    Apparently... :p

    That looks slick.

By chance are you considering making caps for the side rails? I would be happy with ones that don't wrap around the top edge on the outside to avoid having to make a curved bend. I just want something that isn't going to kill the paint on my truck.

That was my next thought. I would definitely be in the market for those.

    I'll definitely look into it.

    My two biggest concerns are:

    1) The curvature of the bed.
    2) Cost of shipping

True, it would probably have to go freight.

    Upon further review....

I just went outside and too some measurements. It is totally doable for short beds. Long beds might be stretching it.

The big question is: How much demand would there be for side rails?

The tailgate cap is a no brainer because you can break that thing just by using it to open and close the tailgate, but how many people are having issues with the side rails?

I carry a lot of weight on top of my rails so a steel system similar to the tailgate would be ideal for me.

Damn. I had to get the LB....

I can't speak for the demand, but I would like to keep my truck for a very long time. I would also like to use racks and other things on my bed rails without having the plastic caps rub away my paint.

If someone doesn't measure the LB first I can when I get home. UPS will take 165 inches of length + girth (2x Width + 2x Height+length) or up to 108" length. A surcharge is added when length + girth is greater than 130" Depending how it is packaged, it should be no problem.

*Don't quote me on that 100%. I just looked it up on the UPS website quickly.

Also, I am available to do design work in CAD if you/anyone else is interested.
