I am installing a Pioneer AVIC Z130BT in my 2012 Taco and the color scheme seems to be completely opposite than what is described in earlier posts.

My purple/white wire from the harness is labeled "Reverse Gear Signal Input"
and a pink wire from the harness is labeled "Car Speed Signal Input".

I have read many posts in which the purple/white wire is called the VSS wire.

    What to do....?

    Have the color schemes changed?

The purple/white is the VEHICLE wire color for VSS. On the Pioneer harness the color is pink. Don't assume that the Pioneer harness colors will match the Toyota's wire colors. They wont!

There is a post that shows pictures of where the wires are located. I am off to work right now and can't look it up. Look for it and you will see how to find the wires and answers to your questions.
