    Hello!

I've been browsing this thread for a while now trying to decide between 265/75/16 and 255/85/16. I plan on putting a suspension lift my 19 TRDOR Double Cab about 2 inches overall. I do plan on keeping the stock OR wheels. My question is: Yes, its clear that the 255/85 will fit on stock wheels and suspension, but my concern is when you take it off road. Are you limiting your articulation off road with the 255? I absolutely don't want to limit my off road capabilities or rub or jam off road while flexing. Will it help with this issue once its lifted? The pictures I've seen on this thread of people all stock with the 255's , the tires look like they can barely breath in the front they fill the wheel well almost too much. Any thoughts on this to help me make my decision would be appreciated. Pictures as well. Thank you so much!

On I think the second page in the thread I included some feedback on wheeling the 255s. Generally, you will not have issues with them unless you bork your alignment and are full lock and full stuff, which is a scenario that honestly doesn't happen that often on trails. I wheeled them plenty and only noticed a rub once, and I believe that was because my alignment was jacked. I've since moved on to 35s but sold my 255s to a friend and he has not rubbed with them to my knowledge either, but I'll let him chime in- paging @dirty deeds

One thing to note about adding the lift- once you do that and alter the suspension geometry, you may need to get some wheel spacers to not rub on your UCAs on the stock wheels.

There is zero rub under full compression in any turning situation with stock wheels.

This complicates things for me even more! What I have really been trying to figure out is: Once I lift the vehicle , what is the perfect tire size? I don't want something that looks too small, but I don't want to rub, chop, or use spacers if I don't have to. After reading about the hub centric spacers I believe there is really nothing wrong with them, but it's just a piece of mind thing.

Unfortunately thats something only you can answer. Luckily there are tons of pictures of trucks with various setups around this site for you to browse and decide what you like. I think anything less than a 33 with any lift looks small, but then again youll be hard pressed to fit 33s or larger with a lift without at least some modification. Thats why the 255s on stock are so good. You get the benefits of a 33 without the stress of changing anything else, the extra wear on your parts, or the additional drop in our already trash fuel economy. Ill go ahead and say that doing 255s on a stock setup with NO LIFT is optimal. Just adding the extra inch of tire makes the truck sit much better. But again, its your choice!

Like mentioned already, it's really up to you. There's lots of pics around here you can look at. Hard to answer for you what the perfect size is.

Personally, I lifted my truck about 1.5" all around. Then I added 255/85/16s so I'm right around 3" overall. To me, the tires look perfect even with a small lift like that. I've also added 1.25" wheel spacers just to push them out a bit... No issues with rubbing or anything yet.

I do rub a little, but I'm a 2nd gen. They're the OPs 255/85 r16 KM2s. It rubs at the lowest outermost part of the flare and liner. Generally only when turned and stuffed.

I do have spacers, SPC UCAs, and a little trim of the flare. Just needs more work, but not a priority because it isn't hurting the truck or tires in a negative way I've seen.

And a half-drunk-the-next-day friend in sandals using a jigsaw on your fenders helps as well

Would 255/85/16 fit with a 1.25 spacers on stock suspension?

Maybe? The reason the 255/85R16 works is because of how narrow it is when paired with the stock 7" wheel. By adding the spacers you are shoving the tire out that 1.25". Essentially increasing the outside width by that much. I would think this puts you at the same outside width as a 285/75R16. Difference being all the width would be on the outside.

Long story short, if I had to guess, you would still clear UCA and Coils on the inside, but, you may find yourself rubbing the cab mount/fenders at the bottom. Maybe someone with experience will chime in.

Absolutely love them. I chose them over the 5100s because I had planned on adding a bumper and sliders and needed something to support the weight. Definitely not disappointed. They ride really well. Smoother than OEM in my opinion

I'm a massive fan of the Mastercraft Courser CXT myself, but the Coopers are super popular options.
