Well, after a lot of hours on random forums I feel it’s finally time to make a build thread for my newest set of wheels. Traded my ‘18 raptor for a ‘20 Tacoma the other day and Finally got some time this weekend to start the build process.

The Raptor was cool but there’s lots of reasons I made the change. They’re all outlined in the thread.

On to what I came to TW for!

First things first, gotta make room for the dogs. I searched high and low for as much information as possible on road worthy kennel set ups but didn’t find much. I knew I did not wanna cram two large dogs in the back seat so naturally I needed a way to safely keep them
in the bed. After lots of measurement and a little mock up I decided on two Roughland Kennels which I bolted together and wrapped in insulated covers. I have them strapped in the bed and covered with a leer 100xr.

Yeah, I have a set of Ping Raptor irons that I bought back in 2006. I still use them to this day, but I don't know anything about the Ford Raptor.

Dogs are digging the kennels in the bed and stay nice and warm on the cold nights with the insulated Mud River kennel covers. Happy pups.

Haha those irons have clearly lasted longer than my raptor did. I was really concerned with overall reliability on the raptor. Had 27k on it and was throwing misfire codes and had an oil leak. Fun while it lasted I guess.

If I am going Ford, I am going 5.0, that is a bullet proof engine.

So anyways, I had Tanner 4x4 here in Colorado Springs install some nitro 5.29s last week. Pretty great upgrade even on stock tires. Still going easy on them for the next few miles but I dig it so far. There is a little whine in the ass end so maybe it needs to go back? I’m not super familiar with re-gears but they said put a few hundred miles on them and they should quiet down.

Hmmm, I had some change in my pocket and was talking to a guy on here about a 2014 Ducati 899 but...regear might not be a bad idea ...hmm

Time for lift and tires. Started this morning and made some good headway but I have some serious trimming to do tomorrow...

I’d love a Ducati but man these nitros are pretty alright! Spendy either way I guess.
