Has anyone tried to retrofit an RFID system to unlock their taco? My last car was an ‘06 BMW and it had the fancy keyfob you could keep in your pocket to lock, unlock and start the car. I definitely miss that feature. Even the GFs newer civic has it.

I’m no electrical engineer, but I’ve tinkered with my fair share of circuits. There’s a huge market of RFID kits, seems like it wouldn’t be too hard build a little system that can sense when the tag is close and unlock the doors.

    Thoughts or experiences?

Thanks, that’s a nice solution, unfortunately it doesn’t work for 2nd gens.

No 2nd gen has the system on board, you're gonna have to retrofit parts from other Toyotas. A thread like that will have lots of good head starts.
