    Greetings taco lovers!

I'm looking forward to picking up a 21 TRD OR (I've been driving a 99 since 2002) later this month and I'm itching to fix the antenna problem first thing for a cab-over camper build. I've been able to answer my own questions on other topics, but believe I've slogged through the threads on this one and hit a wall. SO, please help if you can?

First, I do still enjoy FM radio. You may not, because you don't have great local stations like we do here in southwest CO. Good music / local info and no commercials on KOTO/KVNF/KRKQ/KUNC, and with spotty phone service here in the Mighty San Juans, I'd like to reach as far as possible. So zip it FM haters!

With that out of the way, I'd like to ditch the sharkfin in one shot and have parts ready. This helps tremendously, and I'm hoping the connectors are the same for my 2021:

I've read conflicting reports about the GPS antenna. Is it in the dash or the fin after 2020?
Replacement of the XM antenna seems easy.

So my final question is how best to plug the square hole where the fin was removed? Don't say tape.

Thanks for all the info you guys cough up!
    Cheers,
    Fletch

The 2020+ Tacos use the shark fin for the Connected Services also.

The GPS antenna is in the dash.

Hi Fletch, I have a cab-over camper, and here's what I did for my 2019:

    TLDR
Remove shark fin, replace with old-style low profile shark fin,
Plug in aftermarket XM antenna, and route it to ditch-light style bracket on hood,
Flip the plug on the original shark fin, plugged it into back of JBL headunit, position shark fin behind JBL unit under dashboard for the FM reception.
I may use a thin-fin to put the FM back in the original location (for better reception), but XM needs to stay on the hood because of direct satellite signal.

Side shooter here, but not for 2020-21. More somewhere in here.

Sorry these posts are so scattered,

Here is the Shark Fin replacement
Here is the XM antenna replacement with bracket here and here
Here is the FM radio antenna (shark fin) relocation

    GL!

Excellent concise answers! Thanks a ton for disassembled photos.

Any ideas on a flush hole cover? Carriage bolt and a rubber washer? Looks like about a 3/4" square hole?

I ordered the older style GPS antenna, but someone on here used a bolt with a rubber washer. I hope you don't mind if I cut-and-paste everything into one post here:

    Parts:
Older style GPS Antenna - Toyota (86960-04040)
    XM Factory Radio Adaptor
    XM Magnetic Antenna

Remove the sharkfin, and replace with the older style GPS antenna:

New "Magnetic" Sirius antenna on hood:

Relocate sharkfin under dash for FM reception:

Thanks Ryan, great to have all this compiled in one short thread for future reference.
Does anyone know the size of the square hole after 2020?
