Does anybody have a fan hooked up in their shell for their dogs? If so, how did you wire it and where did you mount it. I was thinking that putting one right by the cab in one of the bed rails would work. Don't want them getting too hot

This is awesome! I've been wanting to do this exact thing to mine to put smaller items up there or even clip a few carribiner to, but I didn't want to drill any new holes. Which net is this and will you please share how you secured it to the roof?

    I used these d-rings:

    http://www.cargogear.com/OneItemInfo.aspx?partnum=SGDRING

    Here's the netting:

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0093XPC94?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00

I bought some extra clips to support the middle of the netting as there are only clips on 4 corners of the net.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00E011L3A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01

I simply in bolted the bolts holding the track down one at a time and slipped the d ring on the end and bolted it back together. Clipped the netting on and you're good to go. Worked perfectly

Wow took a bit longer than I expected. I made some measurements and left the paper in the garage. Sorry for the delay. Here are a few close ups.

Thank you! I've been thinking about that every single time someone reaches into the back. I've probably asked a half-dozen people in the past month to "watch your belt buckles!"

I'm actually starting from scratch now, but this is my old build. I lived out of it for almost a year.

    Platform build: http://www.blog.smalladventures.net/2013/01/truck-platform-take-3.html
The stuff I kept in it: http://www.blog.smalladventures.net/2013/06/the-things-they-carried.html

I co-owned this with my girlfriend at the time, and I sold her my half 'cause she needed the rig, but I plan to do something similar with the "new" 1'st gen I just picked up this weekend.

The key points are a dead-simple platform that sits on the lip of the truck, combined with a high top leer cap with windoors. Most of the stuff is backpacking gear and tools.

This is my second attempt at a platform, my first one is here:

I am looking at all these pics. What are you all using for shovel holders? Are they rail mount, or attach via screws? I want to keep a basic recovery set up in my bed, possibly a gas can mount as well.

This was added after the fact. It is a cheaper, DIY alternative to having Thule spend a couple hundred of your dollars to add this option.

Don't have a build sheet, but here are some more build pics. I'm happy to answer any questions you have.
