^^^Nice setup. Hey can you post up some info on your bed extender? Is that homemade or where did you get it? Thanks.

OK - totally unrelated to camping, but I'm interested in how you installed your Insta-gate. I have one and working on getting it installed shortly. Some questions:
    • Noticed that you installed the brackets opposite of what the install directions say with the "L" hinge piece sitting on the bracket. Is this to make up for the spacing difference so that the latches will meet the clips on the truck?
    • How did you get the mounting bolts through and fastened to the lip piece of the tailgate when you push the brackets to the edge? I can't figure out the best way to do that.
    • Any other install suggestions you can make? I really want to get the extender to flip down like yours.
    Thanks!

I have an ARE cap that I put a mattress in for a night or 2, but for the money ($1000 used) I think my slide in camper is great. Furnace, fridge, stove, sink with running water and table, it makes for a very comfortable nights stay. Plus it sets up in less then 30 seconds.

Sorry no pics on my 2nd gen.

theres a reason this is such a standard set up for so many serious campers. its very efficient, reliable, space saving, durable (move it from vehicle to vehicle for the rest of your life) and if you carry blocks, its always leveled regardless of terrain...which can be huge for those that spend many days out.

i had that set up on a past Discovery, i now use a regular old tent and regret selling my ARB rooftent big time, basically what im saying is that its worth EVERY penny.

The reason we got the tall shell was so we could sleep in the back. Still working on the inside & will post pics when it's done

    Go to their Website:
    http://insta-gate.net/

Watch the Video with the Duke's of Hazzard dude.
They do not make it for the Gen2 Tacoma....but you can still install it.
It will not install on the Factory holes in the Bed, you will have to "Screw it" into the Bed Material.

I basically "Screw in" the plate into the Lip of the Bed.
Since they do not make these for the Gen2, you have to hack it.
I will take some pics later after work and send them to you via PM.

Benny, make a thread and show us all how you adapted the Insta-gate to your '07 Tacoma. I'm interested as well. :) Your truck is awesome.

Here's our camp all set up:

The tent folds off the back so the tailgate area is sheltered. There's a cabinet system in the bed for storage and we usually set up our kitchen on the tailgate. More details here.

I just loaded the camper on the truck. I'm getting ready to go camping. I have only seen one other Gen 2 with a real camper.

I believe he was referring to the price of the truck...$56,485.00!!! The tent set-up might be worth the tag but the total cost is insane!
