how does it look like a WIP photo? :bananadead:
that's the final product (minus the tire)

didn't need to trim the leaf pack center pin since the GM bumpstop has a hole in it and lines up perfectly with the center pin

The e-brake cable keeper is just dangling, so I figured it was WIP :notsure:

There are two modes in which the bump rubber can contact, diagonal flexing and both wheels going up at the same time (hitting a speed bump). The bump rubber usually will not hit the same spot in both modes. Just test it out so the rubber doesn't get torn up by the exposed center pin.

Oooh that's what you meant by WIP yeah that was dealt with already. i'll stack up the flex ramp to see if it does contact on the diagonal, thanks for the keen eye.

This is a quick crap guide to front end lift.

    New parts;
    Fox 2.5 Coilovers with standard 600lb springs (Part #: 983-02-025 (the 983-02-025 coilovers don't actually exist since cannot find them on any fox catalogs, i assume they are misprinted 883-02-025. see last 2 images for specs);
Mevotech (SPC rebadged) Upper Control Arms (Part #: CMS861196, CMS861197)

Install guide PDF i could afterwards: https://accutuneoffroad.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/605-01-110_REV_B.pdf

    before:
    stock everything
    IMG_20210618_182252511.jpg

    after
    IMG_20210618_214037273.jpg

that's it. those are the only photos i took of me installing these things in.
also fuck the passenger side through bolt. Toyota, the hell were you thinking?
had to remove air box, a bunch of wires just to pull it out... same goes for the driver side where i had to remove the battery and 1 wiring hardness, but wasn't as difficult to get that through bolt out as the passenger side was...

anyways, just need an alignment now. Before; steering wheel was pointing 5 degrees the the right from center. Now after the upgrade it's 10 degrees to the left from center.
    Passenger side:
    IMG_20210619_124331119.jpg
    Driver side:
    IMG_20210619_124324079.jpg

Driver side cam bolt needs to rotate out to even out the wear pattern. Will have it dealt hopefully monday or tuesday.

Front lift part 2: Preload boogaloo

    coilover adjustments before alignment.
fixed up the coils since the front was a little low and figured to adjust the preload where i'd sit closer to the "middle" of travel (the shock has 5")
this was more of a pain in the ass since the grub screw that pinches the top of the adjustment cap was hidden behind the coilover, so the entire thing had to come out.
I also now *fully* understand the BS that is rust on threaded coils. spent half a can of PBblaster and WD40 to get the thing to turn...

also made sure to set adjustments so that the grub screw would be facing out so i wouldn't need to dick around with pulling the coil out again... :bananadead:
    IMG_20210620_121030842.jpg
Driver side set to 68mm (ish) from the bottom of the Fox hat. (tried to take into the consideration of the taco lean)
    IMG_20210620_144327748.jpg

Passenger side set to 61mm(ish) from the same location. Basically i raised the preload 15-20 cents to gain a little bit more height.

This also helped with the alignment of the tires afterwards, i got lucky. before Coilover adjustments, to drive straight, the steering wheel was clocked 10 degrees to the left and now after this adjustment it's dead-nuts center.
took the Coopers off and put on the OEM wranglers to have them suffer until i go in for an alignment.

@3JOH22A I also checked out the bump stops, they seem to barely just clear that center pin under some flex. Think it'd be worth making a plate or something to sit above the pin? I'm not terribly concerned about it just yet.

Just take a grinder/flap disc/cutoff wheel/Dremel and trim it flush with the U-bolt plate. Center pins are typically supplied extra-long to accommodate shims, AALs, etc. with the intention the end user (you) would trim it after install. Center pins are typically single-use, so no worries with the starting thread taper after trimming.

was thinking about the stage 2 wings for the hybrid. i think the tube bent is the way to go with the wings instead of the actual stage 2 wings from SSO.

Would just need a tube bender, and someone with a welder...
could go aluminum instead of DOM too...

Do you know how much lift you got with the EL111R's when unloaded? thinking of going this route (found some elka 2.0's in stock) but dont want to be riding around with too much rake on a 1.5" lift

how i measured was from asphalt to the underside of the bed fender.
the measurements worked out to be basically 2 inches from what i recall. I don't have the measurements written (at leas ti dont know where the paper went)
but the truck was about 2" uniformly raised with a 1.5cm rake

When you installed these tires, you were still running fully stock suspension (stock ucas and the whole bit) right?

yeah, in those images - i was 100% stock.
Had to beat in the pinch weld, trim a lot a plastics near the cab mount (not CMC done), and used a heat gun to push in the inner fender out a bit. took off the mud flats and not used em since.

    upload_2021-12-31_13-46-16.jpg

The tires did some self clearancing but after the first week or two, it was fine to drive.

granted my rims stick the tire out a bit. -12mm rim compared to stock which is between +30 to +10 depending on rim.

you can fit the tires better on a "0" offset rim.

Been looking for an awning. this might be a contender if the math works out for it. doesn't seem too much of a hassle, but would certainly be nice for the rainy days without needing a 10x14ft tarp.

I have a secret. I get stove envy every time I see that pre red tank stove.

For the awning, were you thinking of coming off the cab or attach it off the back with a rack or some contraption? Good-cheap awning ideas have been on my mind.

apparently there are various lengths of these things. not 100% sure but i feel like it'd be able to mount it directly to the HoboRTT itself as the Cabella tent cot has 2 crossbars that would drap the cover over and down the sides.
    upload_2022-2-4_8-24-40.png

From what i can tell from this tear-drop (i think that's what they're called) cover, it just rests on the back of a SUV/ vehicle and i think having it rest on the crossbars and have it tie down to the wheels for an example. then yeah i think it would work. i'm not 100% on that but i feel like it would.

If someone had one of these, i'd love to test it out before burning $200 on something i'm not sure would work.

I want a covering that doesn't use the 10x14 tarp i have. something freestanding is always nice.
can't use the roll-out awnings because i dont have anywhere to put it. and if i put it width-wise to the truck, it'll certainly stick out and i'd break it Day 1 on the trail

But yes, the pre-red tanks are glorious!
