    Hey Guys,
Quick question.. When I stop, I hear a small clunk in the rear. I also get a small clunk sometimes when the air kicks in. What could be causing these? Are they related or separate issues? The one that annoys me the most is the rear clunk when stopping. Any info is appreciated!

60-70 ft lbs torque on the u-bolt nuts and you'll be good.

    Separate issues.

Axle wrap for the stopping clunk.

Ac clunk to my knowledge is normal, you have a motor that goes from 0 to operating speed with no slow acceleration.

Have someone ride in the back if you can and try to replicate the sound. If it occurs when you're going slow to a stop they can hang over the tailgate and narrow down where the clunk is coming from. You could have a loose bolt on one of the leaf springs.

That's true, but he said the clunk was from the rear end. Either way it would take half an hour max to go around the truck and torque all of the major suspension parts. Not gonna hurt!

Agreed, sometimes noises transfer. Like you said it takes just a few minutes to check it all. My end links were just a hair loose and it sounded like the passenger side was coming apart lol

Just curious if it still clunks when you put it in neutral when coming to a stop.

Anybody know if there's a write up on general re-torquing maintenance, for every 30k?

Does the drive drift shaft have a greaseable slip joint? Make sure the drive shaft is well greased. A binding slip joint can accerbate axle wrap.
