Welp, it was bound to happen sometime. Old man turned left on a green and didn't stop for the red in the middle of the intersection. I didn't see him until he was in my tire. The damage looks minimal, besides the wheel, tire, and obvious cam tab. Still to early to have it torn down to see what else was damaged.

Thankfully no one was injured. Hell, his airbags didn't even go off.

@JdMeF9SiR2 Dustin, you'll be getting a call at some point for a new countersteer TypeX in matte black.

Thanks Sean. On the surface it does look like a simple fix, and yes the TC tabs will be added one way or the other.

I had a similar impact to my truck a little over a month ago (but mine was parked). Looked like nothing was wrong with mine at all so I drove it right home after finishing up with the emergency guys. Got it checked out the next day and you'd be surprised... lower control arm, wheel bearing, both ball joints, tie rod end, rim, and steering rack were all damaged.

sorry about the crash man! That really sucks..
Just read through some of your build and damn!
also, i think I remember seeing a write up about how you plugged the holes in your fenders once you removed the flares! Where can I find that?

That's definitely a possibility. We'll see what's really damaged, beyond what I could see, and go from there. If it's minimal I'll fix the IFS, if not, she'll be going under the knife most likely.

    Thanks bud.

Here's the thread on the plugs.

Hey Nathan, sorry to see what happen to your truck :( Hopefully everything works out for the best and it's a relatively simple fix for you. Either way you don't sound to heartbroken at the chance to go solid axle either. :D Good luck and glad your ok!

My insurance fixed up my IFS.. I was a little bummed that it would be longer until it wore out and I has an excuse to look at SAS. Your rig would be so bad ass if you could droop the front tires under the sliders too!

So first, glad you're okay. From the distance, your truck didn't even look damaged.. not like his little FIAT or whatever it was.
Second, the LED bar fits perfectly up on the rack. Love the blue TACOMA on the grill and yes, probably should do a blue skid now.

Ok, so I'm considering taking a check from the insurance company and fixing the truck myself. I'm going to use this post to keep track of what I think needs to be replaced, what I actually replaced, and what it all cost.

    What I know is broken/damaged:

    Spindle (possibly bent)
LCA cam tabs (Rear cam bolt pushed through tab)
Konig Countersteer TypeX (lip bent and torn)
    315/70/17 Hankook Dynapro MT (slashed)

    What could be damaged:

    Steering rack
    Wheel bearing

    What I'll be adding:

    TC LCA Cam Tab Gussets

Here are a few more pictures of the carnage. :D

Ouch. Hope you get back on the road again soon. Glad nobody was hurt. I almost rear-ended some idiot last night. He stopped at a green light suddenly like it was a red for some reason. I wasn't following close either, but we were both going about 40 and his tires chirped ever so slightly. I don't think he did it on purpose either. There was a red left turn arrow in the intersection. My best guess is that he might have been a little drunk (we were leaving an area with a lot of bars/clubs) and saw the red arrow at the last minute and mistook it for a red light to proceed forward. Puckered a little, but I flashed him with every light I have that faces forward (light bar, ditch lights, led fogs and highbeams) and right before I was able to stop right behind him, he took off like he was late for work. I actually wondered for a second what would have happened to his car had I plowed into him with my plate bumper. He has some mid-'00 POS sedan.

How did you wire these man? I'm not very good at understanding how to wire 8 lights together :/

With 1 switch or 8 switches is the first question. Secondly you would wire them in series if you want to power multiple lights with 1 switch.

    Glad everyone was ok.

Looks like LCA's on both sides are trashed, and half shafts, and tie rods, and ball joints and UCA's... My professional opinion is SAS and call it a day.

So for one switch and 8 lights then I just connect all positives together and then connect that to a inline fuse and then to the battery? Or to switch?

I ran a dual conductor wire around the perimeter of the frame and tapped into it where I had a light. So I had a single power and ground connection in the engine bay. All of my accessories are tied into an NSA, so I had it easy.

If you're using a standard switch, you'll do the following:

    - Hot wire from the battery
    - Fused before the switch
    - Ran to the switch
    - Wire from switched side of the switch to rock lights
    - Ground all lights to the frame

    Hope that helps.
